7400 at the summit. Camp spots down a little lower....Hwy 722 is the alternate to 50 running from Eastgate to the west to just west of Austin. Nice country.

Got it now. I did ride over the Desatoya Mountains on the way from Middlegate to overnight in Austin. Don't know what pass we went through, it was a few years back and nobody on the ride had GPS. We were riding with Bobzilla from Fallon and his buddy Johgn from Sparks. They treated us to 2 full days of free guide service and we really enjoyed the scenery and riding up there.

I just looked at Carroll Summit on Google Earth. Looks like a great place to camp and do loop rides from.

Desatoyas are fun--good stuff from 722 north back to 50. For a longer loop we swing north of 50 and cross lower end of Clan Alpines and loop back around to Middlegate from the west....

Did you ride Austin south to Big Creek/Kingston? I like to go east from Austin to Bob Scott then south on the jeep roads to Kingston with a loop back to Austin via Big Creek. Or east down Birch Creek.

Then there is Ophir to the south, Berlin/Ione, Belfort, Tybo.....

Is this trip still happening? Have a big group? I'm tired of snow and cold and thinking 500 miles ain't that far for a good yard sale

I figured that! Just giving Mojave Mutt a look at the country. Wasn’t very good motocycle weather, but it was excellent coyote callin’.

My bad....I was initially talking about a Summer or Fall trip, camping in the Desatoyas/Carroll Summit or Middlegate. My comment about the Clan Alpines relates to a day trip which could work this Spring due to lower elevations.....So many rides, so little time!

I'm still on for Lincoln County next month. Won't have to worry about snow.

Best of the High Desert Trail Ride

Riding Juniper Flats in south Apple Valley on Sunday. Small bike ride for dudes that like trail riding. A lot of single track but nothing gnarly. No big up hills or downhills and no cobby, bony, rocky shit, just fun and flowing.
65 mile ride, lunch on the trail, easy staging 100 ft off pavement.

Great trails, friendly pace, not for noobs. KSU 8:30 am.
