Always find it interesting in how good a condition some of this stonework is after 80 odd years or more!
Great work by a lot of unskilled workers!

You can ride to within 100 feet of the west portal. There is a field just east of that camp that will get you there. If it’s early in the morning before the hikers and bike riders show up, you can ride through the tunnel (at your own legal risk) There are Jersey barriers on the other side that will block a bike with panniers form exiting on to Pump House Road. Don’t ask me how I know this

I rode through it like a million years ago on a 230 quadsport. The next week my friend got nailed riding through them. Anymore I try not to do illegal stuff on purpose.

Just a word to the wise, the DCNR has Google Alert with each State Forest as the trigger. This post could be easily picked up and viewed by the folks who write the tickets.

The tunnel has cameras for this purpose. Please be careful on playing the dark side or our sport.

    @Denny Mann
    Interesting.
I'm taking that as meaning anytime X State Forest is mentioned here, DCNR is notified of the post. Would that be a correct interpretation?
    If not....????

Yes if a state forest is typed in by name that post would appear on the rangers email in that Forest. Some rangers are much to busy or could care less but this happened to me with one of the Forests.

    Wow!!!
    :patch

Knowing that, a lot of chains could be jerked by a little bit of innernet dis/misinformation.

Also find it interesting that awhile ago, I sent an email to a dcnr office. Never got an answer until I sent the same email to a state rep. Then the dcnr promptly replied to them. No time to answer me until it went higher up.....but they have time for this type of crap.

Most attention/publicity but least efficient communication gets top priority.

Like I said, million years ago. In all honesty 20 years ago. I don't do the same silliness now as I did then. Even in State Forests, I stick to only open roads and once that you can drive a car on. I'm too dang old for dumbness.

No that is something the secretary can do on their own. The bottom of the food chain is fine but getting answers for the top quarter is next to impossible.

Pretty sure this new MABDR runs within a mile of here, but I doubt many people will venture off their pre-planned route to find it.

Sitting here on a well worn picnic bench, I-80 runs 200 yards away, can see the traffic running by at 70mph or more.

Poor bastards don't have the time to slow down and look around.

    I'm pretty damn lucky....and I know it.

Yeah, used to do that too. All day, then at the computer doing rations at night....and weekends.
Never regretted telling them I'm outta here!

The CCC did some great work, seen all over the area with some wonderful parks and cool projects. I really think we need some version of that recommissioned to repair our country's infrastructure. Problem is nobody wants to work hard anymore...
