Rebuilt the 35 mm Better forks on my SWM and had to drive the damper rod out it was that tight. Both legs.....
Seems like the fiber ring on the damper rod has swollen over the years. Does anyone have a lead on where to order just this part? Or any suggestions for replacement --

I did try filing down the ends to increase end gap and reassembled, but they make a lot of noise moving up and down...

Try the Bultaco parts suppliers. You could also turn down the groove that the ring fits into.

PTFE rod, that can be milled to the size bushing you need, a bit delicate to handle.
