Newbie (to Big Bend) will be heading to there in about a month. Does anyone have tracks for the area?

    Thanks!

I got back from BB a few weeks ago. I have a number of routes in and around BB. I'm not able to attach them because of some technical problems with the ADV site. Drop me a message with your email and I'll forward the GPX file to you.

Big Bend Routes from my February Trip. I took these roads on a GS 1200 Adventure fully loaded. The River Road was a handful on such a large bike. Other then that, if you can ride gravel you will have no problems with these routes.

try out this link to find out about the new state park roads to ride.
also on this site "two wheeled texans" you can find out more, much more about the big bend area. there's actually four areas to ride in. the national park, the state park, the ranch and the area behind terlinguila. I was there back in feb ...... and you asked for pics? don't forget to bring along extra memory cards for your camera! and a tripod .....
    http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44715

a big road bike is not the bike of choice .........

I put my wr250f and a kayak on a trailer to get to big bend.
I used my dirt bike as my shuttle for my kayak trips down the river.

make sure you wear or bring along some good comfortable shoes/boots to hike in, you're gonna want to do some exploring or at least be able to take them off in this case!

and you're gonna find yourself here for sure!

make sure you have a good gps ...
mine died (garmin 2610) and had to resort to a map ....
but I was close to the end of the map ....

ok, that should be enough of a tease for now .....

    Mr. Spidennis.

    Where is this?

    I live for hot springs...

I read your twtex ride report and would like to know more.

ahhhhh ......... but part of the adventure is in the discovery!

but when you do find the hot springs, be careful ......
since this part of the river has inhabitants near by on the other side
nothing is ever really all that safe there.

but if you must know, the hot springs are near the village by the river.
and the camp ground is one of the few places to hang a hammock for the night.

but the place for a cold one is .....
well, you already saw that pic.
but you can also byob on the porch next to it.

breakfast is over at kathy's (?) (did i get that right?)
    it's the pink bus ......

    did I mention a gps?
are you riding alone? then be prepared for some serious "be out there by yourself" gear for self rescue yourself. be able to fix a flat, have water.

oh yeah, bring a camera .......

gotta go, a beautiful woman is knocking at my door!

when I go back to the hot springs,
or use my bike as a shuttle for my kayak trips
I think I'm gonna use this to lock up my helmet, boots, etc.
You (I, we) might be out in the desert
but along some parts of the river there's easy access to the goodies ....
    our goodies!

PMed you a special file. On a 650 or lower you will have a damned tough half day! Anything bigger and you may sleep in the bush!

Lotsa content on your website, SPIDennis! :thumbup

I don't have time to fit out my new ride as well as yours before we head to Big Bend, but I will have the essentials. Looking forward to riding with you in in 4 weeks!

MacEntyre, glad to see you over here at advrider as well. Most of our other activities blend well with each other. I know you mentioned taking off your cap so you can bring your truck, but you might consider a hitch carrier off the 2" reciever (if you got one). I got mine off fleabay for 130 bucks to my door and use it quite a bit, (along with my neighbors).

    an example:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120525242741&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT#ht_2829wt_816

    this is what I got:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOTORCYCLE-CARRIER-RACK-RAMP-TRAILER-HITCH-HAULER_W0QQitemZ290390395622QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439c9dcae6#ht_1034wt_745
I do wish it had a reciever or place for a ball on the end though. but for 130 bucks it's a pretty nice deal. I wonder what harborfreight has?

Dunno... I'll check. Been researching those things this morning.

Northern Tool has one of these locally. Looks just like the example you linked.

If I want to spend almost three times the money, I can get one of these.
