I'm thinking the best time to see wildflowers would likely be the end of March or Early April but it probably depends on how warm it gets and any more rain. I plan to watch the wildflower reports on DesertUSA.com and plan to go whenever or wherever a good patch of flowers is reported.

True, could be quite early this year, if we don't get any more rain.

Let's keep an eye on the DesertUSA. com site.

    Thanks Randy :clap

Yes, late March to April is the normal window. The early rains are just one of the many variables this year. No predictions yet, but there are already Goldfields in bloom on the Elkhorn. :huh Of course everybody and there brother will be out here looking for flowers that time of the year, so the Selby and KCL campgrounds often fill up early on the weekends. Sending a couple of scouts to stake out some tents on a Thursday night usually works. Of course dispersed camping is allowed. You'd need to pick up a fire permit though. The Place Restaurant might be able to handle campers too. (Shorter walk to the tent from the bar.) Another long shot is if anyone has a hook-up with the good folks at Songdog Ranch? They used to do group camping, but now I think you have to be an old friend or relative. They are in the mouth of Ballinger Canyon (near the very cool OHV trails).

Also here is another site to monitor for flower reports:

Our eye in the sky :freaky

The Place (in Ventacopa) might just be a comfy camping location.

There can be a lot of people in The Plains when the flowers are at there peak! The riding is still good since we will be mostly up in the hills on the West and East sides.

The best way to become an old friend is to buy a couple bags and go there toppick them up. Quality gear. Good people. http://revpack.com/motorcycle/main.html Their campground is still pretty cool and could handle a small group I would think.
