I love reading this!
I agree! Have many reports bookmarked to go back and reread. Seems I always missed something there each time.
Makes me wonder how Big Dog is doing with the WR250 he bought. Have not heard a lot about it since.
Check out the Pancho and Lefty thread for more info on the WR250R
and this page shows the mods he did to it
I found this report because I've been reading a bunch about the TE610 -- thinking about replacing my DRZ400S with one. Anyway, awesome report, and I really appreciate GasPipe updating all the image links -- it's hard enough to get all the images cropped and organized in the first place -- thanks!
/That is one cool picture
I want to do this ride someday. The Thumper would make it Im sure.
Would love to go there some day.
This may sound weird...
I first read this Ride Report three years ago.
It lodged in my brain.
This past summer, I was fortunate enough to ride the TAT.
I want to thank you guys... for helping me make a dream come true.
You guys rock!
One of the best pictures I have seen on this site, just step back a 100 years and take a look. Love your RR, planing my own TAT and you both have shared some great information.
Back to the front page for my favorite ride report ever.
Doing this same trip (except most of OK) in June. CANT WAIT!
I wish someday to meet you and bigdog! bigdogs stories got me hooked on adv rideing. he is like my hero,,lol.. but i have been rideing for years just not this far away from home at one time.
....keep up the good work guys....
Just finished reading the report. Thanks guys. Bigdog is one of the reasons I just bought a used '06 TE610. My buddies and I are planning the TAT this summer and this is the bike I've been wanting to do it on. Your report just solidified what I thought of Husqvarna already.
Awesome report. This one's got a solid spot in my bookmarks folder!
As everyone has already stated, GREAT ride report GasPipe and BigDog! I know this comment is about 4 years late on the thread but...
I just kicked my crf450 to the curb in exchange for a cherry BRP and couldn't be happier. Seeing that you rode most of the TAT on yours (GasPipe) has inspired to say the least.
Not to hijack the thread but... have you ever done a buildup/gear thread for your long distance rides? Both the bikes used on your trip seem as similarly equipped as possible. My BRP (the War Pig) has got some nice add-ons but not the ADV gear yet.
A friend and I are planning a mini TAT route from NV to OR and back next summer and barring flat tires your bikes' durability is what has impressed me.
Anything you would have set up different? Anything you couldn't live without?
You can start reading this and it is still great even years later!
I figured it's a good time to dust off this report and now some other people will be able to enjoy it --- it's a classic RR!
Well----what do you know---I am surprised to see this pop to the top again.
Glad so many enjoyed it-----one of my best rides ever !!!!! The Husky 610 I rode on that ride is still running-----"Fish Fund" bought it off me---took it to Mexico---buried it in the mud somewhere down there----maybe took it to South America ????----some guy has it in Indiana now and I ran into him in Colorado a year or so ago on Ophir Pass.
Yeh--------it's a classic alright----------just like me
Now where is that GasPipe ??? Cause I have no idea.
My favorite pictures of that ride.
The Oklahoma turd seat.
GasPipe had so many flats on that ride---I didn't have any.
You didn't want to be around him when he had a flat.
Lot's of cussing---in this picture I had the tire tools ---and when I came back
to him, got the tire off with a rock and a piece of barbed wire.
And then there was the "waffle stomping" our dirty riding gear.
And of course drying them---we usually used a ceiling fan.'
The electrolux cafe---who could forget that.
The morman crickets
"Kinda spectacular tho"
And who could forget this. I never will
You can't take them away from me.
I recognize those Oregon photos.....
