Zeus outfit seen in Andorra, Oct 2018.
Rarely see one of these... I think less than 200 were sold.
I saw more than a few of these Communist-era 2-stroke scooters in Berlin. Most in rough shape, but some were restored.
Gotta love the old military iron.
Not a rare bike but an "individual" paint job.
I rode my red 1997 1100 Sport to last weekends Euro Bike show in Raleigh. I parked next to the red 1985 LeMans 1000, which I used to own..... I sold that bike to someone in Raleigh in order to raise some $$$ so that I could buy me a black 1388 original mileage 1997 1100 Sport.
Sold the red LeMans above in order to raise money to buy me the back 1997 1100 Sport below.
Looks like a cool way to get around.
The owner built this one over the winter from spare parts.
You don't see a machine gun everyday
Southern France - still used daily.........
So that was Monday! Same Bike this morning!
You don't see that everyday!
Growing up, I had a Honda SL70. I moved to Tucson in 1971 and met a kid out riding his bike.
It was the first time I had seen a Hodaka Combat Wombat. I thought it was the coolest bike ever.
I begged my mom to let me spend some of my money on a 125 and she let me get a Yamaha YZ 125.
We rode around the desert all over Tucson on those bikes. That Hodaka could move.
Crying shame they could not keep producing that machine...Was on my WANT list.
The same guy I met riding the Combat Wombat was into racing.
He was good enough to get sponsors and decided to step up to the open class.
He chose a Maico 501. I tried riding it a few times but it was just too much bike for little me.
I had a hard enough time starting it.
But he could ride the hell out of that thing and went on to get national sponsorship.
Eventually riding for Yamaha.
That Maico was a beast.
Hodaka and Maico square barrel...oh yeah!
