Yes, she was a very happy girl last sunday. After a couple of weeks in the back seat always very worried that something could go wrong, this was the first ride where she felt completely relaxed She had no experience but now she loves it...
After all those hard charging KTM pics I'm a little surprised that she'd be willing to ride an XT. Thought she'd want something a little sportier for DP rides.
She likes what most like about the XT, being low seat height. That plus she got an absolutely smoking deal on a new zero miles 18. Some better tires, gear rack, hand guards, low profile mirrors..they’re surprisingly capable and versatile. At least up to when the 200 would be a better choice. It’s been tagged before, so she still has that option too. We don’t need longer touring legs, since we’re already “there”.
Yup. We lowered it a little over an inch with links. Her inseam and mine are nearly the same but the extra 60 or 70 pounds I have makes it so I can flat foot in stock form. That little bit lower made her way more comfortable on the bike in tight spots, when parking at odd angles, and when things get a little rough. Before you ask, yes we had to cut the side stand too.
I love seeing all these happy couples pics! It did just make me realise I have none of me and my boyfriend with the bikes though ... So here are our bikes together... nawww!
Happy to share that today was her first ride on her own bike. 70 miles total in our backyard woods of New Hampshire's white mountains. There was a deer, critters, gravel roads, it rained and we even went down a steep dirt road to a cool water fall and she did great. She's going to her first motorcycle rally on Friday with me pretty close to home. I'm really proud: She finished the MSF Sunday, got her license Tuesday and we're on the bike Wednesday. We're doing a joint build thread here - https://advrider.com/f/threads/heather_bs-buzz-2019-f750gs-build-thread.1402719/ She's very hands on so wants to get in as many miles as possible with me. Her cornering is really good already. She's able to balance at stop signs really well and did a really good 2-lane U-Turn on dirt with me when it started raining without walking the bike. A total natural!
