That looks like the Sautee store, just outside Helen Ga. Great place! Nice pictures.
It was just outside Land Between the Lakes. Don't recall what town.
As the outside sign says, Aurora. http://www.hitchingpost.net/
I was going to be nearby for a family reunion (and mutton picnic ) in Daviess County this coming weekend, along with a cameo at the Kentucky Guzzi rally in Frankfort. Unfortunately, all but the Guzzi gathering have been cancelled or scaled back, so it’ll be next spring — or so I hope — before I can get back there.
I spent quite a bit of time in the LBL in the mid-to-late-60’s when it was pretty new and often deserted. It was quite a trek from Owensboro on my little Yamahas, but I didn't know any better and grinned the whole way.
Although I have returned to western Kentucky often, I have only passed through the LBL a few times in the many years since. I had thought I might dip SW and run through there this trip and show Kathi an enjoyable part of my teenage years. I don’t remember that store back then, but it obviously was there.
To keep thread (marginally) on track, here’s said Kathi last evening with a G&T — and Griso peeking out of the Moto Grappa. It was a bit cool on the house porch on the hill, so we moved down to the sunny front of the shop. Toasty.
As a consolation for the scratched mutton-&-more trip, I’ll ride the Griso to Erie on Wednesday for an in-law visit. Kathi — while a great pillion — does not enjoy it as she does the Norge and EV, so she’ll drive the Fit … or, as I call it on such trips, my “support vehicle.”
Best riding partner ever. She seems to like me even after 30 some years. West Texas.

We had our 27th anniversary a few days ago. This was taken somewhere between Broome and Canarvon. In Western Australia.
