    Dear thumpers,

I am looking for to custom fit a WP rear shock to the F650.

Can you suggest which WP rear shock will fit?

I can find the length numbers of the Ohlins shock for the F650
but as I don't want to spend all the money I would like to upgrade my shock with a WP.

Mechanical modification is possible with the mechanics I have
but I would like some suggestions from which bike will the WP shock be compatible with the F650.

    I appreciate your help!!

I have the F650 Dakar myself, with an Ohlins shock fitted.
But this is for my friend who will buy the F650 soon
and we are looking for front and rear shock mods.
We know the solution for the WP FORK, but we can't figure out the WP rear shock mod.

    Looking forward for your reply!

I have two original WP shocks one is in a bit of a state so I sent it too TFX to make a copy of them the WP tech is a bit old I have two for sale but they need to be refurbished
    If you contact
    +31(0)495 750529 Email: hans-dieter@tfxsuspension.com

Say you are looking for the custom longer travel rear shock part numbers below
    141-0053-01 (advanced hose)
    140-0053-01 (IFP shock)
140 on the left 141 on the right and you can select a pre-load if you want

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I have seen the TFX shocks and I have also seen the Wilbers shock options. Well, if I add the longer travel and the Preload adjuster it
will be the same price with the Ohlins one. My goal here is the find a USED WP shock from another motorcycle and to modify it to work with the F650.

Extracct from our conversation after they received the shock

I measured the shock absorber and these are the measurements compared to original.
    Length original 330mm
    Length WP 336mm

    Length stroke original 58mm
    Length WP 69mm

We make it exact like the WP only our top cap is a little bit different.
This one we use for all F650GS Dakar.

    The two I have

I don't really get what you are saying. From which bike is this WP? You are saying it will fit? Or that you are selling it?
My bad for not understand but I want a more detailed answer. Thank again for your help! :)

    Ok, I understand now.

What is the total price that you paid?

This would be perfect for me but what I am looking for is a USED WP from maybe a KTM? that would fit the F650 so that I will
pay something like 200-300euro. I live in Greece and we can find here used WP shocks for that amount. So I am looking for which KTM/Husqarna bike the shock is compatible or similar

As you say the original length is 330mm
WP length is 336mm but not on all WP bikes.
Is there maybe a WP shock that is 330mm?

The closest equivalent is the Touratech Tractive shock if you are just looking for stock height, but if you want the to Fit WP forks you may need to look at a longer travel shock or buy Ratel's longer dogbones

So from what I understand I have two options,

    1. Go with older WP used shock and service it, get a different moded swingarm or adapters, all the hassle to do all that and source the parts and maybe in the end I will have spended 500 euro)
    and so much time.

    2. Buy either Wilbers shock (around 750 euro /w preload) or TFX shock (/w preload, similar price) or Ohlins BM048 (around 1100 euro if you can find it because it's discontinued)

    Right?

This research is for a friend.
I have the F650GS Dakar 2006, with WP fork (from KTM 660SMC) and Ohlins BM048 shock, which took me ages to find a shop that it had stock.
In my search for the Ohlins, I contacted Ohlins and asked them if they can make me the BM048 again, and I vastly remember that they charged me something like 1800-2000 Euro
Fortunately, I found it and it works like a dream (especially off road). BUT, the cost...

Did you get an Ohlins BM048 with the Spherical bearing or the one with the Rubber bearing?

the problem with this one with the Rubber bushing at the top is that they fail eventually causing flex
and the Clevis breaks these parts replaces the top rubber bush with the spherical bearing https://www.splatshop.co.uk/
