Yes, that's what I did. I run my lights through relays so the current and voltage drop through the switch is minimal. Be sure to get a big enough diode to carry the current if not using a relay.

Yeah I'm not sure of the size needed. That's up to another wizard. Where did you find room for a relay? Not that I need one. But for future reference

It’s a hella. Not sure of the model. I got the whole light kit and harness from Ian at Britannia. The high beam stays on at 30% when on low both stay on on high. It’s a plug and play set up. Worth the money when you suck at wiring.

I used 20amp microtab relays from Easternbeaver. Plenty of space in a tower. A 5 amp diode would handle approximately 60 watts but it's going to get hot. And the switch now has to handle the current for both the high and low beams. A 1 amp diode combined with a relay isn't an issue.

Anyone have a Touratech headlight guard they are willing to part with or a source for one? (Wire type)

I wanted to point out that the new website is CaSe SENSitivE ! If you have saved an old name with all lowercase (bmwxcountry) it will not work, (this is because the new server is Linux which I hope is less hacked than Windows). Look in my signature, it hasn't changed, or go to:

    http://mattsnook.com/bmw/bmwXCountry/
    or
    http://mattsnook.com/bmw/bmwXCountry/bmwLinks/

And my post does appear to be a plea for money but that was not my intent, just an explanation in case it gets hacked again and this is not the final solution. I must admit not even riding a motorcycle right now, well let's just say it dampens my enthusiasm for keeping the knowledge up to date, sadly. I would never ask for money but I understand this is a community and I've donated to others in a like manner, soooo if you feel so inclined please PM me and I'll send you my Paypal information. Thanks, -matt.

You may try the guys at Touratech Canada (Montreal area) as I seem to remember seeing one in their box of XChallenge parts, albeit that was last year.

Those don't look as bad as you said on the phone. Watch not to cover up your s/n.

Bout 10C here and it measured 1.9K ohm increasing the temp seems to reduce the resistance but gotta go duty calling if needed can take more measurements next weekend
