Interesting that swing arm failure keeps getting mentioned but still only what two or maybe three actual recorded events?

Go back a few pages and see where people were posting their mileage. I've put 30k miles on mine, and those miles have not been kind. The bike is holding up very well considering the beating. Some of the guys have more.

As for swing arm failures, guessing that was a question. So far only one on an XCo has been verified as far as I know. I challenged this a year or so ago and it caused lots of noise, but no new examples. There was one example of a bike with a broken lower frame, but that is not the same problem. Only one example of that as far as I know, too.

Interestingly, I frequently hear people speak of the the aluminum subframe being weak also. But I've only seen maybe 2 total reports of a broken subframe, all caused by placing massive loads on the far rear rack and hard offroad riding.

I suspect this is mostly a non issue as well.

There was a post on ukgser of a broken rear swing arm

I do think its good bike and I know its had hard life was rallied hard before I got it and been ridden hard since.

But its cheap compared rest market and has few extras bolted on

Did you see the post where colebatch tore down his engine? It was doing pretty well even after he rode it "enthusiastically" across asia a number of times. I would be more concerned about other parts than I was about the engine. Swingarm I wouldn't be concerned about but maybe that's just head in the sand? Not like racing will be worse on it than carrying a bunch of stuff and riding enthusiastically.

Mine might break someday. Does that count? I think it counts. That's three.

    OH NO

Yours might break too! That's FOUR! Quick, NOBODY ELSE POST! I think it's contagious.

BTW, my pro-werks C73-757-B came in by UPS today. Thanks again guys for the tip. It looks a little small, but I'm sure it will work once I get it to the shop.
The install may have to wait. Looks like I'm turning Orange this weekend. I found a plated 2015 250XC-W. A good complement to the X, I think.
