That said, I'd have one of these bikes in a minute. if I could justify the cost of yet another bike and/or could conjure extra days to actually ride it.
Does their money spend? Then BMW likes them just fine! At least they buy bikes and not some douchey electric car :)

BMW is aiming squarely at the Urban GS rider. Smart business move IMHO. Still ugly bikes though!
I ride a hexhead GSA... it defined ugly before it was cool. This upstart is just paying homage.

I like it, would have one for short trips if I could afford more than one bike, perhaps in black though...
I like the way it looks, and I'd appreciate a lighter, less complex GS for fireroads, double track, etc. It's right up my alley, except for one concern. Seems to be just a Scrambler with some bolt on accessories, which is fine, except for the handling stories I've read about BMW's Scrambler (because the fork's been raked out to accomodate a 19 inch wheel). Scramblers are supposed to be simple fun, and if it's less fun to ride than a GS, then that's a deal breaker.
I have no idea what I would do with one but I want it!!!

Could've used a more original model name, more proof that BMW is following Ducati in the path to attract new and younger buyers...
If the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled sells well, then you can pretty much guarantee a BMW R nineT Urban GS Adventure will follow.
In fact, given BMW's penchant for offering options, I'm surprised that there isn't an offroad suspension upgrade available. Cycle World's review of the Scrambler includes this suggestion:
Playing armchair product planner, I would have retained the 15k price point of its sibling and pilfered the GS parts bins for suspension and brakes. Then they would have the best-equipped scrambler in the industry.
Except the GS uses a Telelever suspension, so that wouldn't work. As for the brakes, the R9T and the Wethead GS share the same brakes, no reason the Scrambler couldn't except price!
Not saying I'm going to run out and buy one, but I sure like the way it looks. A lot.
BMW's goal is to make money selling motorcycles, and while many people on this forum want something more functional, there are likely a lot of people that would buy that urban enduro R9T without hesitation. Like others have said, if you don't like it, don't buy it. But, if BMW can move more units, it helps them keep an economy of scale on their other bikes that you may like.
It's all about the looks. Whether it's a Ducati Scrambler or BMW r nine T. Bikes as true performers they are not.
