I have 30k miles on mine, which I would think is above average. On top of that Ive ridden in all sorts of conditions including snow. All that prob contributes to the build up on the levers

I managed to get a 2017 R1200GS up to 136mph (gps indicated) with all three Vario Bags on.

On my ‘16 XR, it ran up to 140mph so fast that “I” backed off ! LOL. I wasn’t ready for the four cylinder top end pull…

    I can’t imagine it wouldn’t run 150+?

    I’m 5’10” and 170lbs.

Yeah after looking into it and seeing a couple videos it seems about 158 miles an hour is about what they got out of the bike
    I'm sure that's governed
I would never want to see that speed myself...

2018,xr no bags ,151according to the gps.
then the controlled environment changed back into an interstate so being a professional operator i backed out of it. The XR on the other hand was willing to keep it going

Anyone have a suggestion for a bike cover that fits well when the side cases/top box are on (and a slightly taller windscreen - Puig)?

Doesn't BMW have an XR specific cover? I have the BMW cover on my 2020 GSA and it fits the bike perfectly with panniers and top case mounted

I think so but my concern on that would be if it's truly custom mine taller windscreen may throw off the fit.

Do you have the tall factory screen or aftermarket screen? I have a Puig on my GSA and it's about 2 inches or so taller than the OEM screen so my BMW cover doesn't completely cover the front wheel

Puig touring screen. That's what I was afraid of. Thanks.

I have a big topcase, saddlebags, and tall windshield so I went with the XL. Covers the whole bike and folds up to nothing.

My wife and I have baby number 1 on the way so we are thinning the herd. Her 2016 Triumph Street Triple R is up for sale and has been since early August. So far only a bunch of tire kickers with no money have been interested.

So with that in mind I want to sell my 2016 BMW S1000XR (34k miles). The bike is extremely clean and well maintained without a scratch on it. Includes factory side cases and both regular and HP tall seat.
What would you all consider a fair price for the bike?

Don't feel too bad for us...she is keeping her Daytona 675 and I am keeping my GSXR1000R :D

$9500 or so IMHO. It depends on how fast you want to move it.

Right about where I was at with it.
if you have a local dealer there maybe do a consignment they can get people financed and you can push the dollar a little more for a modest fee...depending on the dealer and your relationship with them..

If your bike is red I'd be interested in the side cases.

Has anyone on here painted the hard luggage lids white to match the bike color and have pics?

Thanks for the feedback and advice!

The bike is white with the grey/blue (I really don't know what color) bags.

136 on a GS with bags is a big effort!

I sat on 120 on the autobahn on a fully loaded GS….it was….interesting…

So quick update- took off side bags and it was cooler (low 70s v 90 all summer) and magically the xr blew right past 140 and exceeded 150 with a bit more in her. So my xr can indeed do those speeds without bags in slightly cooler weather. I’m guessing the bags made more difference. I rarely have a need or desire to go that fast but now I know even with a big guy and oversized shield she can breach 150 easily.
