Lovely looking bike. Now, get the mudguard off, and treat it to some lovely rearsets!
So tell me how to do that and where to buy the rearsets.
Can I reverse the shifter?
I like the "GP style" of shifting for my street bikes.
Yes it does, check out Real OEM, the XR is on there. I take the real question is would AF-Xied have a product for it, would it work, and then 2 sensors for 4 cylinders is not the same as 2 sensors for 2 cylinders.
I'm still in between the XR and GS for my next bike. XR goes great, but the BWAP-BWAP sound of the akraprovic is just great on the GS. Shift Pro is great, but works better on the XR. I don't feel it upshifts much faster than I can, and defo on the downshifts I prefer to manage that myself, slipper clutch or not.
I've got few months to decide..
The stock exhaust on the XR sounds great!
Both bikes are excellent. The XR is a comfortable sport bike while the GS is a great all around bike. If it is too close to call there is only one thing to do...... Buy em both, and sort it out later. Or, do like Rich did and keep them both.
GS for rides over 1000 kms ......and a s1000r for day rides.....the best of both bikes at the lowest cost....
Saw a discounted one today and the dealer.
Yeah, don't see that very often. $2 large off the retail price. No kidney to donate so I didn't buy it.
There's a $1,000 rebate from BMW on the S1000XR if you get the Dynamic Package, it's a credit against the MSRP.
There's more here under promotions - http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/index.html
The S1000RR has a $1500 rebate, add in one of the other programs and there's a possible $2250 off the price of the bike.
Damn how wide is your ass. That seat looks like it was made for Kim Kardashian
The mudguard is held on by 4 bolts. You'll need some shorter ones to attach the licence plate holder to the rear fender (the large plastic part that holds the rear light).
The rearsets are available from any BMW dealer. I'm not sure what you mean by reverse the shifter though.
Hey, always said I was a fat-ass, but NEVER use me and Kim Kardishiodt in the same sentence ever again! lol, besides, I outride most people, fat-ass and all...
I am sooo glad that I live nowhere near you, else I would spring on that deal!
GP shift, 1 up and 5 down.
2016 S1000xr vs 2014 ktm 1190 s (its a S in R clothing
Easier foot shift
Handlebars vibrate 25% less
U sit on the bike (s1000xr u sit in the bike)
All of them have air box leak and oil leak when new
Heat from engine cooks your butt(leakes and heat are easy fixes)
Better in corners (WINS THE FUN FACTOR!)
Shift assist (don't have to use clutch)
Cruise control factory
Heated grips factory
25% more vibration but never bothered me
power same just different delivery Ktm has torque vs BMW has horsepower.
Standing position same ergonomics
So now I have a Ktm 1190 for sale. I just don't want the hassle of fixing it's problems and adding stuff like cruise and heated grips when the XR is ready to go. Next bike purchase will prolly be the 1290 gt if Ktm can fix a few things. If the s1000xr did not dive into corners so well I would have stuck with the 1190 and put some work into it.
A wide seat it a comfortable seat !
I want one.
How long was the turn around time from Russell
How much $$?
Hepco & Becker just finished up several of their luggage options for the S1000XR.
Available now: C-Bow carrier for their Street Soft bags, Lock-it Side Carrier for any of their hard side cases, and the Alurack and Easyrack to fit any of their hard top cases.
It looks like they're also working on finishing up the engine guard, center stand, skid plate, and rear enlargement rack.
S1000XR wins this comparo: http://www.motorcycle.com/shoot-outs/ultimate-sport-touring-adventure-shootout-prologue
All I can find in that link is just a teaser with a promise "Look for the story and accompanying video to be published on Thursday, September 17."
But nowhere do I see the results of the comparison, let alone declaration of the winner.
That's because I'm an idiot... Here's the correct link: http://www.motorcycle.com/shoot-outs/2015-ultimate-sports-adventure-touring-shootout
(went back to the site after reading it, clicked on the first thing that sounded about right and dumped the link here...)
Impressive, but I guess the top three don't surprise me all that much. And good for the Versys.
Well it looks like they all agreed on one thing about the xr, and now I know I am not crazy and just looking for something to complain about if all these professionals feel it to.
