Once again I ended up with a solo ride. Enjoyed it anyway. Didn't feel like going off on Trail 4, so went up to Boise Ridge Rd and crossed over the mountain on Eagleson Rd. There's one steep rutted section that has always been difficult for me because you have to say out of the rut to make it through. That isn't so bad anymore after a bit more traffic through there, so it's actually possible to make it up through there in the rut. Good thing, because the sloped sides you used to have to say on are worse.

Once across Eagleson I took Clear Creek north to Grimes Creek and almost to Highway 21 where I turned left onto what Garmin calls Warm Springs Rd, but it has a few other names too. Somebody had recently taken a road grader or other tractor through there and smoothed out the road, but left a couple of inches of loose dirt on top of everything. It was like that all the way to the 6000 foot summit. Kind of tricky to steer in that stuff.

Dropped down into Idaho City, ate at Trudy's, then south on Centerville and Harris Creek to Horseshoe Bend, then old Highway 55 and Pearl Rd to Eagle. Probably 80 miles of dirt total.

    A few photos:

Looking for riders who enjoy riding remote mountain single track. And are willing to help clear the trails we ride.

    Looks cool.

I'll be picking up a new KTM 790R this week. Anybody want to help me break it in? Hopefully somewhere that isn't covered in snow.

Nice bike. You should take a look at the Seat Concepts comfort seats, for your new ride.

Only if I determine that there is an issue with the stock seat. The other two KTMs had seats that worked just fine stock. I'm expecting the same for this one.

Enjoy. I work at carls and saw you pick it up the other day. You bought it from my buddy rybo. I believe you got our first 2020

Your 1090 looks clean too, only found a small crack on one of the handguards.

20191228_123603.jpg Once again I was the only one at the staging area. Headed out alone. 31 degrees, needed another layer of clothing. Doesn't work well when you leave it in the truck.

    20191228_131547.jpg Dropping in...very fun wash.

Soil was perfect. Just a few feet of mud here and there.

Anybody interested in a "get out of the house" ride on Saturday?

I was thinking of riding up to Lowman on Highway 21 through Idaho City, then back on Lowman Banks Rd through Horseshoe bend. This would be a 100% pavement ride of about 160 miles. Bring a lunch along so that we don't have to stop at any businesses along the way.

Let me know if you're interested.

Be careful between beaver creek and lowman. Still lots of sand/dirt on the road

Thanks. I have quite a bit of practice at reading road surfaces, but if I have another rider along with less experience at that, I can start giving foot signals or whatever for that stuff.

So, no interest at all in getting out for a ride on Saturday?

What's it going to take to get some of you out riding?
