Legendary!!!.. This is awesome.. I had the chance of reading a trip report from one of the 4wd-ers in an Indonesian 4wd mailing list; this trip is by far one of the most difficult and epic. In the end, if I remember correctly, he mentioned that it will be very difficult to organise a similar expedition due to the amount of expenses involved. It's a truly once in a lifetime experience (maybe not for Sam though).
He also mentioned that people really show their hidden sides towards the end of this trip. Not only the riders, but the 4wd-ers as well.
Thank you for the awesome report!
It's a Daihatsu 4wd. it's known as Daihatsu Rugger / Rocky / Fourtrak in countries other than Indonesia.
when i read this RR,, i just feel same,,make PANTURA (Pantai Utara Jawa or North Coast of Java) is nothing!!!,, :eek1

It was tough, but I made it to the finish. I'm all sweaty now, but chilling with a cold beer now
Indeed, great report, great writing, great pix and will be a great video, I hope.
As metalworxman pointed out, thank you for helping us find our own Borneo!
Not much I can say about such an adventure but wow there is some envy there!
Thank you too for the ride report.....massive effort!
Incredible! Thank you for taking the time to share this adventure. As with all great ride reports...the only regret I have is that I lived the adventure from the comfort of my office chair.
I came across the link to this thread from another site. Makes my "hard" all day ride with my KLX450R look like a walk in the park. I will never complain or bitch about the difficult terrain again as I AM NOT WORTHY!
Great stuff and truly EPIC. Definitely, hats off to all you true ADVriders and thanks for sharing.
Got to go, getting hot and I have to turn up the AC. :eek1
Great ride and report.Read the whole thing today. Couldnt pull myself away!!!
same here, i had important stuff to do! there is always tomorrow.
I joined this forum simply to tell you that this is the most interesting and exciting read I have seen on the Internet in some time. I don't actively participate in any off roading, and was directed to this thread from another Fourm...but this thread has seriously pushed me closer to getting out there! Thanks for the time you put in to report this to everyone! Just a fantastic read!
Thx for sharing, its really awesome!
whats this talk of a video ?
when where can we get one ?
Truly outstanding, Thanks for the ride.

what a pleasure ride....
Awesome report. Wish I had known about the trip as would have loved to join.
Was living in Brunei for the past 4 years and a bunch of us did some regular (not enough, mind you) trips in the jungles of Borneo. Last one was 2900kms around Sabah. Awesome people and scenery. Another group circumnavigated the whole island, but had to take a few ferries on the east side of Kalimantan. Don't know if some folks realise just how much more effort it takes in the heat and humidity. Nothing better than trying to get your buried bike out of the thick clay mud that just sucks it in
Great adventure...(from my safe abode) and a great expose of the destruction from the evil logging corps. Sting and Bono should talk to you about some environmental stuff.
Nice read. Thanks!
I've bene a good solid week reading amazing RR's. I thought I'd seem them all. Hooked from the first page of this one. What a fantastic trip!
