I hve been riding around that islands on 3 months journey at 2014. but moslty we take a smooth tarmac road. pontianak, muara teweh, samarinda, bontang, berau, derawan etc. oh mann, you Sir, are ROCK! I'll be waiting for the next stunning RR around Indonesia.
Greatest thread ever. I need to re-read it.
I agree, ranks up there with Walter Coalbatch Russian - Siberia thread. I remember reading this report years ago and I still remember many bits.
thanks for the link ATEAM ... wow, what an adventure ....
10 year anniversary return! In all of my years I have NEVER seen anyone do any trip more Adventurous!
So this seems to be a good time to dive back into this RR.
All of the original bike riders from the 2009 expedition were invited to join the 10th anniversary reunion by Sam last year. The 2019 trip would follow the 2009 trail backwards.
After initially thinking I was up for it ,over the course of several months and reflecting on the past expedition I decided not to join. The majority of other guys independently did the same. I think we all decided that we had already "been there done that". One time was more than enough. Only Sofan joined up again but then he's a nutter, who practically lives off his bike full time off road nowadays.
The thought of possibly having to tackle this again was definitely a factor in my decision
This was probably the greatest ride report I've ever read. Great that they are still doing it after 10 years.
Gotta keep this up on page one so more of us discover it. Amazing (obviously). Reading it consumed my week.
Can't believe I'd never read this one before. Amazing!
Wowza, just wowza! What a great read, my blood pressure was up just reading and seeing the shit you guys went through!! Much respect!!
I remember this RR, friggin epic and brutal.
