I'm planning a trip to copper canyon with my brothers and dad. One of my brothers does not have a bike a the moment but can borrow a Transalp from a friend. Will he be able to cross the border with a title from someone else? And what about insurance?

No, he won't. The bike has to be titled in the name of the rider.

    Yeah, but....
    There are ways...

Even though Ward and June Cleaver would be against it, Eddie might be willing....:D

    A couple of things...

Transfer title (sell) to the rider, now totally legal.

    Ask Epson for a registration.

Owner, but not rider, can get permits via online. Rider carries 'appropriate' ID when crossing.

Riding without temp permit: claim dumbass gringo, claim sht was stolen.

.....'buying' the bike would be best.

The simplest way is add the riders name as an "or" on the title. When you get back, owner just changes it back to his name only. Barb

As usual, the ladies come up with the simple and elegant solution! <G>

I've seen lots of happy remarks about your sheepies.... especially from the Newbonnieville forums, and I think also from the FJRforum... pretty pic of the Speedmaster, btw (I have one, I don't fit on a KTM...too short! <BG>)
