Hah, back from the dead this ride report is! Congrats Cycles. Big Sur is gorgeous. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses. There's a nice straight bit of road at Point Sur where I like to pull over, have a stretch, and enjoy the view...it's not the most picturesque part of the PCH, but for some reason I really like that spot.

Glad you were made whole, found closure, and moved on...and I'm jealous of that new bike of yours! Enjoy it!

Damn, you just put on those beautiful Heidenau knobby tires then and went on a long highway trip. lol.

Congrats on the trip, post more pics when you get a chance. We're living vicariously though you. ;)

Hey! Glad you made it out to CA! Nice looking bike, too! I'd actually been through this thread once before, and noticed it back up today. Glad to hear things worked out for you.
The warranty will be peace of mind for you. And now that you have it, you'll never need it.
My 08 has been great, and it's never been babied, that's for sure. I absolutely love it, and have never had the itch to replace it. Who knows, maybe some day I will, but at it's present rate, it'll outlast me.

I am SO glad you got fixed up and finished your trip. And most important of all, I am glad you are happy with the response and outcome. But as a guy who's been buying and riding motorcycles for 39 years, your story is exactly why I will never again pony up my hard-earned money for a "premium experience". Shame on BMW. My own faith in BMW is gone forever. It already was actually, as they burned me (forgive the pun) similarly in 1995.

"It hardly mattered. I ride burning motorcycles. I laugh at lost luggage. I drive hundreds of miles to rescue defunct BMWs and old underwear. Bread crumbs and sweat were nothing."

This is what keeps this story riveting. The maintained humor. Excellent!

    Better Luck this time!

I just wanted to tell you LAMPF means LAMPE, or as you already surmised "lamp or light-bulb". Apparently the bottom "E" segment burnt out. Could it have been the culprit;-)
In any case, I'm glad you finally got to do the Big Sur! I just hope I never end up riding with the poor sap who ends up with your old headache,
