that clip pretty well sums up a large part of the 'adventure' scene. Old fuks that cant ride on huge bikes with both themselves and their bikes overloaded in gear.
And more often than not it ending in tears.

That soundtrack would go well in a euthanasia kit - but anyway its good we all have diff taste - I reckon a bit more meat and potatoes in the music and throttle and the clip would move to another level

No mention of what they are actually going to do and to be frank (I'm sick of being me I want to be Frank) $16 Mil will not build more than a couple of Kilometers of road. Feasability study will chew up more than that.

    Cheers Tom R

Mudgee to Orange via Hargraves, Dixon Long Point is only 20min longer then going the tar either to Capertee or over to Wellington, the issue has always been the crossing at Dixon Long Point, I can't understand what the big issue is for council or government, just do what they did at Oallen Ford.

Build a Bridge, 16m ain't gunna cut it though.

Oallen ford bridge and approaches was $3.2M but a motorcyclist did die on it due to defects :(
Local bridge in town has blown out to $18.6M from 13.2 :flush

The road from Orange via Ophir/Dixon/Hargraves to Mudgee is about 145 km's (with a good portion of that - back then - dirt). While going via Bathurst/Sofala/Ilford was @ 185 km's and the Molong/Wellington/Gulgong bypass (Guntawang Road) @ 195 km. As Redback pointed out - it is the crossing at Dixon's necessitated that the vehicle be a 4WD. So a bridge would solve that (to a point)... but unless there were other roadworks done to upgrade the route - I have a hard time picturing the "winery trail" (linking Mudgee to Orange/Cowra) that the politician portrayed in the video, that is going to attract all the tourism?

It seems to me like 16 M is a pretty thin budget - for anything more than a fairly rudimentary "log and tie rails" bridge across the existing ford at Long Point... :dunno It might remain an "Adventure route" for a good while to come?

The question I have is - how much of the Ophir/Dixons/Hargraves section is still dirt
