After a lot of scrubbing with degreaser and brushes (scotch brite pads makes it too shiny for my liking) I used Aluminum brightener from Napa Auto Parts with a tooth brush.Working in a very small area 3" X 3", dip the brush and scrub, then dry it off. Repeat ,repeat, repeat, rinse with water, dry, then move to the next section. Be sure to wear protective gear, goggles, gloves and clothing. This is a mild acid. The results are awesome...well worth the effort.

a whole 15 miles this spring for a photo shoot prop, no miles this summer .. sorry to admit the guilt of putting miles on such a low miles R90S has gotten to me. :rofl

One of these days when you are 90 years old and sitting around the retirement campfire you'll be telling how much you regret not riding the piss out of that R90S you used to fawn over. :freaky

many thanks for asking ... 74 R90S has not moved since Dane Westby's last ride.
guilty of not wanting to put miles on such low miles example.

been rocketing around on a 2007 KTM 525 EXC in supermoto mode ...
even my R80G/S has not been ridden for months and months.

FWIW the local dealer's Airhead specialist recommended not using our favorite motos as regular commuters, partly because the gbx input shaft is NLA, and so on...
Meanwhile in southern CA I'm flogging the '90 GS to work & back, and the nice low-mileage '74 bought from a friend pretty much stays in the garage for now.

    Not that I prefer that.

    It's good to collect spares.

No doubt your 2007 KTM 525 EXC is a hoot to ride. :D

Swap to another transmission and keep the original for the "purist" future buyer....

Who's the genius who decided the Magura logo should be upside down?! [IMG]
