Thanks for the post it made me realize how much I missed. I need to come back. I was too in the hurry trying to get to Central Asia. I did stop at that church on Shipka pass tried to find names of the relatives who supposedly died there in 1877.. to no avail anyone below officer marked as "others"..

Bulgaria (and Balkans in general) have so much to see that its maybe impossible to visit when you have such plans as Central Asia etc.

I had to be there 3 times (almost 10 days) for those i presented and i still havent covered the north provinces of Danube and many places of interest still come up!

If you re again around, give me a heads up!

Will do. Absolutely loved Balkans Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and northern Greece. Have to come back for unfinished tracks; on the way from Meteora to Turkey started to climb mount Olympus to only realize that doing it solo on street tires on loaded bike wasn't such good idea.. never got to the top turned back.

You can reach with your moto up to a point on gravel roads, then the last ~1000m (of elevation) only by some easy trek..

When you re around, we can arrange it:getiton

Seems stories like this are all over the world. All I can think is, "WTF is wrong with humanity"??

I came from southern side where it's paved and went some distance after pavement ended. I was told that it's easier to get higher on that side. Didn't have time to find a guest house and unload bike.. I will get in touch when I am back.

You mean for Batak, yes? I think is hard to easily accept that people have suffered so much.. anyway @Dalmatino , Bulgarian rural areas today are like a playground for bikers!
