I've only been in Arizona for a few weeks now, but I'm quickly accumulating a list of new riding buddies.

One of my new BUDDYPALS, DirtyDog, put together a great Christmas Eve ride in Bulldog Canyon today.

We met at a nearby Mc'Ds, and while only DirtyDog, ChopperCopper, and I went on the ride, a whole bunch of other Arizona FF's stopped by to see us off.

I had a 40+ mile ride to Mc'Ds, so I was off before sun up. The full moon was doing a great job of lighting my way though.

Sun was shining bright when we left at 8:30.

The National Forest Service keeps this place under lock and key. We had a special pass though.

The first section was fast, deep, sand. I've had sand boot camp in Southern New Jersey, so I was loving every inch of it!

Here's Chopper Copper on his, new-to-him, KTM 640.

First big hill. No match for a mighty 640.

Dirtydog made short work of it on his KLR650.

Dirtydog made a second pass and I was right there to capture the action!

With views like this, I keep expecting Clint Eastwood to come riding in.

This hill was an option, we sent ChopperCopper to check it out.

DirtyDog didn't have any problems getting up, but coming back down proved to be a challenge.

This next section of trail was much more difficult. Some hills and lots of rocks.

    DirtyDog.

We talked Mike into tackling this hill, well, he's pretty willing. Oh my, it was steep and rocky.

    Near the top.

    The bitter taste of defeat.

    He's no sore loser!

He muscled that bike right up and tore back down the rocky slope.

JD got himself stuck on a rock on this nasty downhill. His front wheel is off the ground.

    Free and clear.

    More steep hills.

Another steep hill. They're just all over the place!

    Arizona rules!!

We rode this leg twice. It didn't get any better on the way back!

I couldn't wait to go up the hill JD got his bike stuck on top of the rock! It wasn't pretty, but it took no casualties.

Mike, why don't you go first.

JD, you're up. But wait, what are you looking at??

Holy smokes!! His seat came off!

It does go smoother with the seat on.

Nightstalker is next. Mike volunteered to snap some shots of me. I'm usually pretty camera shy, but what the heck.

It wasn't pretty, but I made it on the first try. At the bottom.

I think this is the right line.

    Making it work.

    Unstoppable!

    Back on the easy stuff.

The aftermath. JD has a new curve in his ammo box.

I split off early to get cleaned up for a party tonight. Glad I had a little extra time to post a ride report before I took off!

Great riding with you guys today! I can't wait until the next ride!

    OH, I almost forgot...

I hit my first cactus today! I didn't see it, but I sure felt it! When I got home I made my wifey pull the spines out of my leg. One was inbedded 1/2 inch into my flesh! You should have seen the look on her face when that came out.

Good RR and nice photography, you managed to capture how steep some of those hills were, always a hard thing to do. Nice work.

SWEEEEET pics, Terry. You are making me look a lot better than I am. I'll have to copy them for myself...

I'm fumbling with the videos still. Not entirely impressed with the quality. You can see them HERE. Still trying to embed.

Here's the garmin map of our ride. Each leg has it's own character and I've marked it on the map.

Oh man, I had no idea how rugged the terrain is out here. Great ride report and photography and fantastic daredevil riding from you three.
