Rather than try to redo my humble musings of a trip taken last fall to Utah from California, copy and paste my alter ego site under my nom de plume, sisyphusdw7 on Wordpress. Hope this works. https://sisyphusdw7.wordpress.com/2020/10/21/burr-trail-here-we-come/
I think your versys would have been more than capable continuing on to the dirt part of burr trail. The switchbacks are awesome. And there’s a nice restaurant when you get to the bottom.
Agreed... I rode the dirt leg to the pavement on 276 then crossed Powell on a ferry at Bullfrog and then pedaled 95 to Fry Canyon Lodge for the night. On a bicycle in 1997. It would have been much easier on the Versys.
Refined like white suggah... How about another? Spring of 2019 with aspirations to reprise in March 2021 only this time adding some miles in the southern Mojave. https://sisyphusdw7.wordpress.com/2019/04/11/super-bloom-on-two-wheels/
Burr trail is easy. If you come in from the North from Hanksville there is some sand - not much From the South is really easy you can take a 2 wheel drive car on it. Great views. In the first picture the Burr Trail comes in from the right at the 3 way intersection. In Boulder eat at Burr Trail Grill. And of course you have to ride onto Escalante. Good ride have fun.
