Maupin Oregon and my not so bad camp on the river except for the freight train around 3am. I’ve camped here before! It’s all good!

This looks super. Any chance when you get a chance you can share your tracks on dirt between Burns and John Day? Or the road #'s would be good too! I am coming home from Tahoe the long way via Winnemucca through Steens in a few weeks and may just have to keep going north from Burns.

My phone it tripping out! @OG1
Go north out of Winnemucca to the 140 cutoff. Gas in Winnemucca or there’s a station about 10 miles before the cutoff. Then it’s like 87 miles to the next gas. Once to Burns head north on 395 and find the “izze” cutoff. Izze is nothing and you’ll be riding on the road and see a farm on your left In the bottom of a valley. Cutoff of the dirt road as you make the bend. I missed it. At this point you’ll be in riding bliss so pay attention.

The bugs from the river covered my tent and I thought “good thing I’m in this tent”! I gave it a shake and they went their buggy way. It was chilly at around 50 and I thought it would get better, but it didn’t and I ended up on the side of the road in my undies swapping for my winter pants. What the hell? It was 87 yesterday! I had a new flavor of Cup of Noodles too. Sesame Chicken Flavor ! Yum. Say what you will but I like a Cup of Noodles especially in the morning. Hot salted water with chicken bits. Mmmm.

I went up and out of Maupin north on 197. Mt. Hood was a nice addition along with the open road but the chill. Brrrrr.

I met up with the Canuks in Hood River. They’ came down the WABDR and stayed at their Grandmas BNB complete with Tea and Crumpets! Long live the Queen! Ha! @powderzone i hope granny was good to you two. The coffee was hot and fresh and they were good fellas. Dave and dang it?? Drop me a line guys, I hope your day was good! I’ll be around Calgary in a few weeks. I received intel from Dave and dang it said that there was some leftover snow on the BDR. No way, so I back tracked to a sweet road out of Lyle north on 142. Klickitat hwy. this turned into a single lane black top out of the 40 mile canyon. More sweet riding!

Then north on 97. Meh. This is where I changed into my “winter pants” just not mesh summer ones. And onto and through Yakima.
Hwy 12 turns into 410 and the riding gets good here. Up and over Rainer NP. Nice place. Check it out if you get here.

    Mmmmm Noodles!

Welcome home! Still having trouble adjusting to all that orange. Maybe you could get a watermelon, chop it in half and stick each half on either side of the bike.

    Awaiting chapter 2.

    Awesome RR Matt!
Was great meeting up for crumpets and tea. Lol
Dang it = Al, but I call him “Wales” because...well...he’s Welsh.
Glad ya made it home without snow. We got lucky yesterday and made it through Snoqualmie without snow but damn it was cold and rainy. Hanging in Fernie, BC for the night. Tomorrow is looking nice and warm for the ride north to Cowtown. See ya on your ride through! Cheers!

@powderzone Al !! I kept thinking Louie but in knew it was wasn't right. "Whales" sounds good. :D . I had to stop on the side of the road and put my non-mesh summer pants on and my heated liner to get over Hwy 410. Brrr. I hope to see ya on the way back down. I'm not sure as to which way I'll go? I'm going to be splitting off from Curtis around Prince George. I was thinking of staying up in the CN Rockies along
Hwy 95, but I might make a trip over to Calgary. I'm Kinda like a Tomcat on the prowl for some action in the woods. :getiton. After we split up I'll have another week solo and that could drop me at the TouraTech Rallye in Plain Wa. __And__ that's a long time out so ... :beer until then

he looks like a Louie. A great ride North is to head to Lillooet then head due north through the Gang Ranch. Beautiful area! That will dump you out at Williams Lake. I can send you the gpx tracks if you need it. Cheers!
