Day 7, end of section 3 and section 2. So today Temps again 69 degrees all day. However we were dodging rain. We would stop put on gear. But the rain was gone. We would come to areas all wet which made trails dicey.

Then the afternoon drama and fun began.

That's right, off the side of the mountain.

So Advil to the rescue. Lance has just aches and pain as expected. His bike needs some tweaking and straightening. He was planning to leave his bike here in VA anyway as he has a bunch of family here in Roanoke. He is planning to come back and do some riding with his buddies up here. So he was already planning to fly home. Rest of us riding back home after section 1 tomorrow. :D

Hard to find but much appreciated shade along the Green River on the White Rim Trail ride yesterday.

On one of my mountain trips a few years ago, I come around the corner and find these two in a very similar situation.

It makes me have to rethink my solo runs that I do up there.
Definitely a reminder to ride well in my limits.

I found riding solo to actually be safer. With another person it seems more risks are taken for some reason... May have to do with extra testosterone ??:lol2

    Ogre! Long time no see!

I don't ride alone off road just for that very reason. I'm so weak anymore that I can't even pick up the bike if it falls over. Just not safe to go alone anymore.

A friend was getting ready to buy Klim Badland Pro gear, but asked about the Carlsbad line. I haven’t looked into the Carlsbad line. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

Recent eye-opener for me: helping my son shuffle his street bikes around in his garage. Between a slightly oily floor and an errant air hose, I lost it and laid over his ‘83 Interceptor 750! Fortunately only bent the front brake lever, and replacements are available. But I discovered I could NOT pick it back up myself! He had to come help. First time for that! Yet another reason to stick with my little 289-lb Kawasaki Sherpa 250 instead of the KLR650 off-road! :D

Maybe start doing a little work with the weights, too... :gerg

Glad you got to do that one, it's one of my all time favorite rides, looks like a different planet.

That is a very good reason to ride with a friend. The only way I ride with my brother and a friend of ours, is because we all have the Cardo Packtalk units.
This really changed the game in riding with someone for sure..

I think my ability to lift and/or un-stick a bike are still about the same.
I KNOW however that my skills and reflexes have deteriorated in the past few years.
