    Day 8 .... more drama..:becca:dirtdog

So this morning we bid farewell to Lance who was headed to Roanoke and a KTM shop.

We went to begin Section 1. Nice weather again 69 to 70.. perfect.

Our plan was to do some of 1 and then maybe start working our way home. Kaoswife had not ridden her bike in 2 years and now I was pushing her around off road and for 2,000 miles. She began to cry uncle. No argument just a little offroad today and we call it a victory.

We started 1 and had just gassed up when she calls on coms her clutch is out. Now I am thinking my oil change solution is beginning to wear out or something. She pulls over and nope clutch cable not connected. Well it appears the case fitting made of cast aluminum broke. :becca

Here is picture of Eric's 800 clutch cable

    Here is Kaoswife's

    20210604_192604.jpg

It broke and cable came out. This is our wire tie and string repair. We start back home after this. Currently somewhere in South Carolina.....:D

She's a tough cookie. All that sand on a loaded down 250 and miles upon miles from any sort of civilization sometimes. All by herself.

Sounds like it might be time for Kaoswife to get the new 750! :-)

It would certainly be tough with all that weight on the 250L. I am in though, I take the same weight of stuff and throw it on my 701 and see where I end up.

Oof. I'm following my friend Henriette who's currently riding in Morocco. Yeah, Sahara desert shit. I would cry.

Rode Poison Spring/Hatch Canyon/Flint Trail route SE of Hanksville. Hatch Canyon was about 30 miles or so of beautiful, shaded (cool) watery oasis in otherwise hot, treeless, dry (but still beautiful) otherworldly landscape. My new favorite scenic ride in Utah.

Had a nice ride back to Moab from Green River with Barry on the 6th to wrap up the inaugural Tim Miller Memorial Utah Ride. Tim passed away June 6, 2020. Barry was wearing some of Tim’s gear from the prior Utah trips, a fitting tribute. Barry is definitely Tim’s son, and that is high praise.

I was wishing I'd had the vent covers for my helmet with me. I actually had water draining out from the inside, & it wasn't sweat. :lol3 Great conditions for a good morning of practice, though.

Missing TRTTC Sunday’s, but consoled myself with a little ride in the backyard on a 75 degree day. Would love to have you come up and experience it CADS guys. Loaner bike available.
