A KB-1 set up to race the Daytona 200 back when it was an important race. No idea how it did in the race , but , it's cool that someone decided to race it. Cira 1979.

This one isn't exactly a cafe' but it is a neat bike with a great background story about a Father and Son...

    The Son's bike:

It would make an excellent cafe' racer by removing the number plates and bolting on some lights.

    The Father's bike:

The new one has a lot of improvements that aren't obvious:

I LIKE IT!! I always liked the 920XJ even in stock form, really kind of a BMW version of a Yamaha, though the looks of the bike was either love it or hate it. Personally I think the fuel tank shape and side covers are one of the best looking Yamaha's of that era. Friend of mine had one, rode it for many years, with a Pacifico Shadow fairing on it for which he designed/fabbed his own mount.

But as a v-twin superbike it is even more cool, bet it sounds great too.

It's easier to make a bike look different than to make it work better.

Also easier to make it look different than to make it look better.

Wow! Really impressive Yamaha! Who knew it could be so fast, and ridden so well. It went through the Corkscrew last weekend like everyone else was stopped. Congrats to Heavyweight Production Winner Jesse Davis - 3rd place on Saturday (less than 2 sec back of the winner, and only .001 second out of 2nd), and 1st on Sunday by 10.6 seconds!

He cut through the field like a hot knife through butter, and sounded good doing it.

The guy on pole for that race is a friend of mine. I'll have to ask him what happened. :D
