Anyone ridden the Kirrama range road since the heavy rains a few weeks back? Thinking of riding Mt Garnet/Gunnawarra rd/Kirrama range rd then overnighting in Lucinda before heading back via the coast the next day. Got a heavy bike, short legs and a crook knee, so not wanting too much of a challenge at the moment.
Cops are running an operation targeting motorcycles - to "keep us safe" = pulling bikes over and looking for defects.
where ? GT
All over the place....Redlynch today.
I was pulled over near the airport during peak hour and they told me it would probably happen almost every day for a week long bike operation. They pulled over three more bikes while I was there.
They didn't check for defects (would have found some), just made sure I had a bike license and gave me the breathalyser.
This morning I took the car with all this rain about, but I did see them at the same location giving a heated lecture to someone who was riding a scooter in the bicycle lane.
No sense of humour....
I tried Gunnawarra Rd a few years ago after a big wet and there was no way to get through one of the creek crossings — fast flowing and neck deep. Also large trees had fallen over the road every 100 metres with the waterlogged ground. Maybe it takes ages for that area to dry out? That was the only time I tried riding through there.
G'day fella's , Anyone got a on-board Motorcycle GPS they would sell ? (Garmin , TomTom etc ) PM me please .
I just remebered about the kenedy garnet road, some where along there, on a twisty section near and old burnt down station is a bridge that has logs long ways, just right to get the w
heels stuck in.
Cant be more specific though
I.m new to this ....
and wondering if anyone is heading to the OCR from up this way?
It´s on my list and company would be fantastic :)
Keep an eye on this thread
As Hay Ewe said,
There are at least half a dozen from FNQ who are planning to go.
Probably have some sort of meeting a month or so before to nut out dates and rough routes etc
Sounds good! I ll keep an eye out:))
That there be the head waters for the Budekin River. There are 3 crossings in succession.
I have cancelled my plans for OCR this year - sorry but life got in the way. Should be back on line for 2020.
Hasn't the weather been fantastic over the weekend! Went for a lovely squirt around the tablelands yesterday.
Yep, I went west for Saturday night, Sunday back to Petfood, Irvinebank and then Tinnaroo area.
Bit chilly from Herberton onwards and down the Ghillies.
Loverly and fresh
