Yes, McLean is outside of the area included according to the map on the site, and the FAQ specifically says it does not apply as listed
    Pass is not required*
    • Ghost area
    • McLean Creek Public Land Use Zone
    • McLean Creek Provincial Recreation Area
    • Fisher Creek Provincial Recreation Area
    • Canmore townsite or other municipal land within the boundary

That's what I've been saying for a while now.
It's like they can't help acting like this. It seems like we need another party.

Will this include the Yamnuska gong show as well?
Considering part of the reason for all this is to in part pay for the over 450 SAR call outs I'm all for it.
Maybe a better alternative would be direct billing of asshats who go unprepared and entitled.

I heard earlier that the Yamnuska area is going to be closed this year so they can do "improvements". These "improvements" will hopefully keep the number of SAR events down.

It is very American style here. The pendulum swings one extreme to the other no middle ground. The "other parties" so far are way-right tinfoil hat wing-nuts that think a land-locked province should separate or join the US. I was born here and think those idiots should be escorted to the Montana border and be given a boot in the ass southward. Not enough brain cells among them to wonder how a separate country/ province would ever get anything to market without being at the mercy of the surrounding countries. Imagine what the currency (whatever it was) would be worth, or how hard a pipeline would be to get done then, even compared to now? They whine about restrictions now, but don't think about a passport to BC or Saskatchewan. Imagine the tax burden with our enormous debt and no oil revenue when we can't get it out to anywhere. Geniuses that should maybe move to Idaho and stock beans and guns in their cabin in the woods with all the other delusional cavemen. Quit behaving like selfish toddlers and maybe this will be over quicker so you can go back to your self centered, me-first lifestyle.
Bloody tribalism does nothing to better anyone's situation and causes most of the problems in every society.

    20210429_123439.jpg

Flat light day,,, still warm enough too ride around in a T-shirt...

We toured around the North side of Baldy Fire Tower Mt,,, caught parts of the Wawa & Nordegg River Roads as well as the Blackstone River...

Slow pace trail ride,,, lots of time too strech out / relax,,, go for a few hikes on some of the trails,,, then idle along looking for bear tracks...

Here you go. The road is the faint twisty one east west in the center of the shot. SSW of Nanton. Have at it! watch for bad ruts in a few spots but easy to get around. If it has rained I'd stay the hell away. No gates as of today and it is a road allowance fenced on both sides.

Cruised the McLean Creek Trail now that it's open, hit the back roads to the Little Apple Cafe in Longview for a coffee and sausage roll. Glad to see the garbage cleanup crews, takes me back to my 4H days picking garbage in May. Well-deserved honks and thumbs up.

First time taking the big girl on jeep tracks at McLean. Really impressed with overall handling of the bike but it has Pirreli Scorpions. They're decent on gravel but total garbage in the mud, felt like summer slicks in the snow. Will be looking for something else once they're toast.

Re: Lycan1's post above, we did this "green" lane from west to east. It would be slightly more interesting and challenging to run it east to west. We contemplated doing that just for fun, but the right decision was made to leave that on the list for a future ride.

This is how the MD of Willowcreek maps out this right of way.

Red roads are unpaved, Green as driveways, and dashed are right of way.

I had my tent perfectly positioned to catch the evening breeze because it is partially a single wall tent and can suffer from condensation. Unfortunately, while we were out on our day riding the wind really came up, and along with the new MSR needle pegs I was trying out, the tent was awol when we got back to the campground. I thought shit that sucks! We looked around and David saw it over in the trees by the blue pole in the picture. The wind had picked it up with my sleeping bag, pad, clothes, spare quilt and misc other crap and blew it into the trees. Remarkably, we found all the tent pegs and no damage whatsoever to the tent which was surprising since it is a two man tent weighing less than 3 lbs. We then set about pitching it at 180degrees ass end into the wind.

More like travelling through their grocery store. They'll react like a Black Friday shopper trying to snag the last deal.
