it started here....damn, i thought they are my priends....
there are 2 events that also happened in the last 60 days.
here's one of them. it started in Pahrump and ended in Death Valley
the other trip i want to add was the San Diego ride (Nov. 15-21, 2020) for chrono order's sake or timeline. there's a separate RR here. it was my 2nd time riding the backcountry roads, it was fun and thankful to several San Diego inmates for the ride along.

"Happier New Year"
Seeya around the next campfire...
Mike....one of the better ways to have a happier 2021 is to put more miles.
wishing you and all the PPS a livelier new year!

here are a couple more.....
Don, @Xt225dm came along with us.....not on an XT. Don is new to riding, only a few rides actually, and he did great.....made it to Mengel Pass.

2020.12.26-30 Death Valley end-of-the-year ride
we have this yearly post-xmas campout tradition of hanging out in the SoCal desert. for 2020, we decided to do it in Death Valley and stay at Panamint Springs Resort, so we can give them our business and hand over $ donation. there's also a thread seeking people to support PSR. the other good reason to be out in the remote desert location is to escape the big city covid pandemic. right now, CA is experiencing the highest volume of sick people and hospitals are in full capacity.
i like as many friends to join us but because of the obvious reason, we limited only 2 campers per site. we're lucky Alan was able to book 4 spots but later able to add 1 more. my apology to those who didn't get notified.....

2020.12.27, PSR - South Pass - Hunter Mountain - Racetrack - Lippincott - Saline Valley - South Pass - PSR
there's a heavy forecast and it was very cold. we are concerned the rain would come down on us once we reach the Hunter Mtn turnoff. we'll see!
we have a weather tracker mounted on @Lost Roadie helmet
cloudy but no rain.....
@Lost Roadie, @rider914 and @aanichols
we decided to head over to Hunter Mountain and see how far we could make it before it starts raining
our loyal sweep
@AllSeasonRider is prepared for this kind of weather...heated gear underneath is the bomb
the road was in great shape

the dreaded silt bed....
hats off to @Lost Roadie for riding through without crashing

Was a great time with a spectacular group of FF's, a great way to end a shitty year. Thanks for having me.
I think this photo sums up camp.
Here's v1 of our Adventure, working on a different version with less artsy farsty stuff and more riding.
double click vid for full screen or go here:
Yay! I was hoping you guys would have a RR!
Glad you got pics of the silt bed
I enjoyed the video and that part on Lippincott where you stopped (at the 2:04 mark) is exactly where I dabbed!
That's a loose, crappy spot. Bet it gets a lot of people.
The drone footage (an actual drone! not just a tall person) is really neat.
Fun stuff, guys! Looking forward to more.
Great edit on the vid. That takes a lot of equipment, time, planning, etc. editing too is a time suck. GREAT JOB!
It’s hard to both ride and film at the same time.
Here's 17 minutes of riding from this trip, long crappy no particular order edits, no music with questionable audio and very little time spent on color grading. I'll be tinkering with it in the future and updating the file, I still need to unpack!
Should be fun for those that were there, everyone gets plenty of screen time to marvel at your awesomeness.
kelly...you made it look easy going up on Lippencott and we thought of it before we left camp. glad @rider914 suggested down is the better way. not that easy since even on first gear, i was going 15-20 mph, not sure why my 701 has marginal engine brake (high idle issue). i was following Matt and going faster than him, and to avoid collision, i took another line which was a bad one and ended up crashing endo. bent (tucked in) the rear brake lever which made my ride worse. luckily just a bruised right bicep (shoulder pad took the brunt) and a deflated ego.
i might have mistakenly linked your RR to the nOObs rally thread which will kill a lot of nOObs who think they can do it too...haha
yeah, having a helmet cam on big wan while following you on a track mode is almost like a drone.....and cheap!
i was able to by-pass the deep silt and after that, we hit another one
bad hair day
strange looking teakettle at the very top
the washboard to and from Racetrack hasn't got any better, but worth it to get to the playa. lol if you have the stock suspension...get your dental filling appointment after you get home.
