good info. thanks. Gaia i heard is a good one.

i'm a stick in the mud and have been using basecamp (mapsource prior) for creating tracks since i got my first gps.

i also use this one but not here in the states.

heard others have the same issue. unfortunately, you occasionally missed local rides and all the good b.s.

not all is lost, there are few ways to see what's ahead and be in the loop.

@S H I F T Y wants to go riding but never heard from him again.........nevermind, he's in mx now.

hope to see you guys later.

it's summertime and time to head out to the coast

we met friends from AZ on a road trip with a monkey on their back. they were saying it's 110 - 120F when they left, while here it was 70F.

so far at home, it's not that hot, low 90's. warm during the day, and cools down quickly at night. in the desert is very hot and anywhere inland east of Los Angeles.

with less covid restriction, let's all enjoy summer and stay safe!

1 - Didn’t see the dog at first and thought that was a leash on the woman.

2 - What pier in CA allows you to ride on it?! This is cool!

You can also ride on the Port San Luis pier (the furthest North of the 3 piers at Avila beach.)

Yes, that's the Santa Barbara Pier or Stearns Wharf. Best part is there is designated motorcycle parking directly across from the ice cream and candy shops so us fat riders don't have to walk far to get our fix.

that's a nice pier and quiet. not a lot of tourists.

plus it's free parking for ? minutes.

best place to take a nap is at UCSB (Biggie's alma mater)

Isla Vista was the biggest party college town back in the days when Wild Biggie was there.

not enough border guards to keep us out....:D

Oh and definitely hit prosper Ridge, also known as the first dirt road on your right as you head out of camp up lighthouse Road. One of the Rangers told me that this is the western most point in the continental United States that you can drive to. Just stay to the right.

Yeah the area is fantastic, that Prosper Ridge had heavy Equipment working, could not go uphill from Lighthouse during work.

Don’t forget Usal Rd. When you are up here ADVing around.

Hwy 101 Leggett toward the coast Hwy 1 is a great route.
Hwy 101 Laytonville toward the coast Hwy 1 up to Usal Rd. Amazing!

This is the entrance to Usal Rd. From the north side. South of Shelter Cove. Other pics are views down to the water from this ADV route. The Lost Coast.

.... can be easily one of the best kept secret roads in Americas west.

I've always lusted over the dirt tracks north of there on google maps. I NEED to go do this!!

I'm shooting for a Lost Coast run the last week of Aug, possibly tying into Labor Day weekend. Maybe 2 up and motel overnights but most likely camping off the big touring bike (1290 SA-T)

    Game on. :kumbaya

I've googled up to Wheeler. I don't see how to get from the beach, through to Usal out of Shelter. Looks like there may be some single-track burred in the trees.
