have you heard of "Pasadena Bait Club" ? a friend for few years now is the chairman of the club. he's probably the only surviving descendant of the founding members of the club. i got invited as well as many advriders to its 100 year-old celebration of the club which was held at a restored cabin next the west fork river in san gabriel mountains. the road to the cabin is not for the motorized public but for special use only. we were fortunate that we were given permission to ride our motorcycles and others their cars to get to the cabin.

but first, we rode the twisty hw 39 all the way to crystal lake
    [IMG]

most of the riding is in the canyon
    [IMG]

    nice big sweeping curves
    [IMG]

commanding view at 5,500 feet elevation, at the parking lot right before the locked gate
    [IMG]

not all are riding big bikes. the venerable XR600 is in the mix.

then we rode to crystal lake cafe

we forgot that we have to be at the gate before noon and we only had 12 minutes left.

on the way to west fork, we got held up for about 10 minutes. poor harley rider crashed in the corner but luckily the paramedic got there quickly. i guess on weekends, they are always on red alert.

once we're moving, the vintage imports caught up with us
    [IMG]

    no traffic going downhill
    [IMG]

we were 15 minutes late but the caretaker was nice enough to wait for us. he unlocked the gate and now we can relax.

we took slow to show respect to hikers, mountain bikers and other motorists
    [IMG]

not hard to find the cabin since it's just next to the road

How have I not heard of this? :scratch I grew up in Pasadena and my dad raised earth worms at one time under his company called "Maru Ranch Bait Company". Seems like I should be President of this club...

del. there's the answer. the club members are merely apprentice baiters and none has reached the status of a master, just like your dad.

    :lol3

they hold meetings. we can join the club.

hello dave. thanks for the likes and to the others too.

not epic but glad to have opportunities to do small rides and get friends to join. sorry if i didn't invite everyone. i had a short memory and only asked those guys who are in our forest volunteer circle.

the canyon is great for the big bikes, though the view is just as amazing. i will probably never see Cogswell damn in my life and learn the history of what's out there at the West Fork; well if i ride a push bike, a maybe if i don't get a heart attack on the way up.

memorial day weekend, that saturday the weather was perfect. i've been wanting to explore some local roads that never got my attention.

the usual meeting spot for the last 12 years on osborne and little T. thought more will join me but happy to have one, sito.

Little Tujunga Canyon Rd is my favorite local road. not far from home, most of the time it's empty and a fun place to practice my cornering skill

the plan is ride to Bear Divide Rd if we can see it
    [IMG]

we were looking for a dirt road but the visibility made it difficult
    [IMG]

we made it to the peak and to the end of the road. we missed the turn off.
