Some big updates on my 1994 XR600R build thread, for those that like shiny things.
Nice work. Too clean.
Selling a 93XR600r (and a Honda Aero Shadow 1100). Got some life changes and choosing to sell one of my XR's. Bought it as a parts bike as it has a freshly rebuilt engine and other bits I wanted but never used. De-registered (from green sticker) in anticipation of dis-assembling but the only thing that happened is I lost the seat, got married and had a kid. Now selling. Will advertise in the bike's for sale section soon, with pics. Hoping not to offend by offering here first to those following on this XR600 thread. Located in north San Diego, California. If interested PM me.
That bike is a work of art. I'd be afraid to ride it and make it dirty! Nice work
Looks like one of those airbrushed doctored pictures for the owners manual.
I did not know until today that the 1999 california xr600r had the oil separator system. This one is deleted and the intake is now opened up to normal throat size.
My 97 XR600.
My before and after shots. Here's a pic of my 1999 after test riding it in the defunct Sears parking lot at the Florence, KY mall in late February of 2019:
And after I finished:
I thought about doing a "build" report, but never got around to finishing it up. And I have it tagged here in Arkansas.
I am not TOTALLY a nut.
I just passed on a 1997 xr600r. 1 owner, stored since 2013. Problem is, He didn't do anything, just parked it.
Do you know the things that happen?
It sounded good on the phone and looked decent in the picture. Plated when new. Owner stated he rode the streets of San Francisco and did occasional dirt rides with his buddies. Hmmm, low miles!
We all know how life has it's ways.... Well jump to today, I checked it out. Oil had drained into the cases and was not visible. Carburetor drain plug was full of brown. Trying to clear it, I thought I would poke through as I was certainly digging into fouled aluminum. Could not poke a wire into the black main jet. It had good compression seemingly, so after giving up on resuscitation efforts, I just put a little fresh gas in to see what happens. But... You can not turn the throttle! The slide was fused to the body!
He was already asking a very low price for a plated bike, but would not accept my lower than that offer.
I came home empty handed.
But hey, I have that 99 to mess with...
And that abandoned street tracker project... This winter?
What about the new motor for the 91? Why have I not put that in yet? Come on, I was working on the baked in georgia red clay it has today!
Besides, it is prime riding season... Right, that's where I've been.
I have been in touch with the people at tuffshed.com to try to clear some space.
It's good to know YOUR limits. Seems you have some irons in the fire, if not you might have added to the collection as you know what is up with the breed. Keep on keepin' on. I have to get out and ride some before I forget how.
I show restraint on that one.
I may not have, but got it home and swapped carby's out. But then again, these two have been keeping me occupied lately.
Wow. That 750 is gorgeous I'm jealous.
You might need to consider changing your name to "Way2manyrides" or "Never2many rides"!
I'm glad I dont live too close to you, the wife would .
This just in...!
2manyrides is trying to learn how to ride 2 bikes at the same time!
That's right, because some one said you can only ride one at a time.
A 2000 xr600r came home yesterday. there is a video out now with shots of the way she came in...
I’ve enjoyed reading lots of the pages of this thread as I’ve considered picking up a XR600R. I enjoy my CRF250L, but I’d like to add this classic Honda to my garage.
I’m a bit concerned about the availability of parts. I’ve got the chance to purchase a bike that’s in good shape and just wondering if the concern for parts should be a factor in making the purchase. Thanks
Congratulations 2manyrides, I knew you would get another!
I am good from here on out...
The XR600 is supported by Honda and the aftermarket pretty well. What you can't find new is available used. What are your concerns?
