The XT gives an annoying audible ding and cuts off intercom etc whenever you are about to enter a different speed zone. This will drive you nuts in a city. Other warnings such as school zones can be disabled but not this. Garmin have received complaints and had set up a case file on this. If they get enough calls they may redo the software. They currently they have 43 logged in the file and we need more people to call about this.

I did not call but did initiate an online chat with Garmin support. Their response was " Thanks for the feedback. It will be duly noted."

SOLVED!!!!Garmin fixed it. This is what I received from them.
Thank you for contacting Garmin International. The feature to enable/disable the speed limit reduction alert has been added in software version 2.80. You can update to the latest version using Garmin Express, or update via Wi-Fi. Once updated, you'll see this option under Settings > Driver Assistance.
