Ok all you great Northerners I have need of your wisdom. I have been looking all over the net to find out if I can take the GS across to Pt Barrows. I have purchased maps that all show it can only be done in the winter by dog or snow machine. First of all is this true? 2nd if it's possible I would love to try it in June.
Barge it to Barrow, ride it out to Point Barrow.. ride it back to Barrow...put it back on the barge. Should take about an hour. Watch out for the big furry white bears. Plan it carefully, you only have a 5 to 6 week non-frozen open water window.
Do you have any info on where I would catch the barge? And do white bears eat GS's or just the riders?
Ride to the point takes an hour, the barge takes 3 weeks. The schedule can be found at www.ntcl.com/sail_sched/index.html Barb
