Thanks guys - I actually liked both colors, so didn't really care. The grey is nicer than I expected (but maybe it's just the "new bike" effect).

    Cheers

Got my bike yesterday!!! Very happy with it so far. It's much bigger in person, but I like it. Can't talk, must go ride. Pics later!!!

Congrats!!! Isn't it funny how as soon as someone's bike actually comes, they suddenly no longer have the time to surf the net? That's what happened to me...

Enjoy this spectacular weather - I don't know what I'd have done if there'd been a foot of snow on the ground this week!

    Cheers,

    Rick

Been super busy at work making up for the lost productivity when shopping for and obsessing over this bike. Fortunately that's meant meetings all over Montreal, and have been having a blast getting to these on the bike (no trails unfortunately, but did manage to find some dirt parking lots to play around in - actually there's some fun stuff in the city if you know where to look...)

Had the chance to get *very* used to the clutch and throttle stuck in some traffic up des Pins this morning - fortunately most riding was in light traffic. Went over the mountain a couple of times, plus the romp in the dirt parking lot (sad, I know).

Here's an extremely crappy cell phone photo, but you get the idea...

Got the plate yesterday morning - the SAAQ service center on Center street in St. Henri is awesome - unlike the insane lineups at Henri Bourassa or Laval to even get a number, I arrived at right at nine and got my plate in about two minutes.

Only had to pay about $70 for the plate but will have to renew in April (was expecting to pay $400 up front). Found a good rate on insurance at Assurance Moto Louis St-Denis, a motorcycle specialist. Prices were in the $400/yr range, depending on options. Was nice dealing with an agency specializing in motorcycles, and they were very good in taking care of all paperwork.

Looks real nice. Time to get some crash bars on that bike to keep it beautiful!

Thanks and agreed about the bars - am saving my pennies as we speak... do you know anyone in the Montreal area who could powdercoat them black? It looks like they come in silver, which does not really seem to go with the bike.

    Best,

    Rick

Yep, they're open Mondays. I think it's because of the big ATV and snowmobiler crowd.

Get the SW Motech ones. They are black and cheaper and probably better protection as well.

Just put a down payment on an 800 on Friday..... wow ! Finally no longer a lurker at the BM National Rally. LOL

Hey ! Has any one heard any feed back about the stock tires, I currently run Avon Distanza on my KLR, which look to be similar, just a little more agressive tread pattern.

I was consdering the knobby style tire, however I suspect the life expectancy would be short lived as I have to run a fair bit of aspahlt to start any good "adventure rides" out of Winnipeg.
