We are two Canadians heading to Tanzania on January 10th 2018. Our trip takes us from the City of Arusha at Mt Kilimanjaro up to the Serengeti National Park on Honda XR 250s, for 10 days. This will be my second time to Tanzania as well as having traveled two other times through the back country of Kenya on dirt bikes. Below is from my last trip to Tanzania in 2014. 1235004_10202939622713068_1309420003847918945_n.jpg

IMG_0241.JPG Here's a picture of what we are leaving. The temperature outside my home in southern Ontario Canada outside of the city of Toronto is -9°C to which it's been this temperature for more than a week...

Looks like you'll be riding IN Serengeti National Park. Haven't been there since 1982 when I drove this exact route coming from the Namanga border - but in the safety of a Land Rover! Incidentally, that counts as the best drive I've done, period.
Have conditions changed so much that one can ride through the park on a MC with no concern for the wildlife?

Grew up in Tabora - first went to Serengeti on a school trip in 1969 in 6th grade.

Im sure you've probably checked out Tanzania/Kenya ride reports by @Osadabwa

No when you get to the Game Parks you have to park the bikes and go in the trucks, thereby avoiding being jumped by a lion...

1C5FA514-C124-46E3-9C59-28BA62393019.jpeg Arrived safely at Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania without a hitch. Paid $50 as Canadians for a Visa, bags were waiting for us. Walked outside the terminal to find our guides waiting for us.

We climbing into a 14 year old Nissan Xtrail that didn’t appear to have aged in the temperate climate and drove into the night to arrive e at the first hotel.

Chris; enjoying the report so far but a suggestion if you don't mind. You can load up to 4 pictures per post and please hit full size instead of thumbnail. It is a PIA to have to open each picture to see it full size. Thanks for posting and I will be following this thread.

Great ride yesterday headed out of hotel through some back streets of Arusha drove up the road/trail up Mt Meru the Vegation changes constantly in Tanzania from lush forests to deserts and grasslands.

We try to avoid the asphalt roads. The non asphalts
Roads are what I’d call in Canada forestry roads that go from smooth easy riding to rough rutted tracks. Both John and I almost lost it coming down a slope into deep ruts. Which strengthened my faith by thanking God for helping me not to crash! We stopped for lunch while watching a herd of about 30 Zebras.

Still learning about uploading the pics as I am doing this from my cell.

After lunch drove about another 10k and stopped for gas. Gas in the countryside is dispensed by local merchants charging a few extra pennies per litre.

From there we drove through wonderful winding asphalt roads through the Rombo region through lush pine forests.

We ended the day arriving at Lake Challa campsite see following pictures.
