Thanks. Sounds like you have a great trip planned. Like boomer said, we were there in July. I think we were there over the 4th so it was earlier in the month. Keep in mind that some years some passes can be a little late in opening so it is a good idea to check to be sure no unusual conditions exist.

I'm glad you are finding the ride report useful. I try to fashion them to make it easy for the next group of riders to find the information they need to plan their own trip.

It would have been fun if we had run in to each other. Always interesting to exchange information and chat about our experiences while we are on a trip.

I just stumbled on this today.

    Great ride report!

Since this is in my back yard, I definitely want to add some of these routes on my regular weekend rides. Some of your connectors look fun, I'll have to include them. Put your tracks into my GPS/Phone.

Hayden pass looks awesome. Will definitely do it this summer two up. My lady may have to walk on some of that rocky downhill, but she is used to that....

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the report and found it useful. That west side of Hayden can be a handful on a big bike. Lot of loose rock on the steep slope making it kind of tricky. Might be better to ride up and back down on the east side. :D

Two words on the RR, "pure magic" :D (well I was going to add another word in the middle "pure f***in magic") :rofl

    Great pictures, banter and bikes.

    Jon.

Yeah, it was a pretty great trip.
Time to do something like that again.
My brother just moved to Idaho...
Might have to go visit this summer.

This site looks good, too, as it rates the trail tread as a separate item. But it's 4 wheel oriented.

Any opinions on how it translates to your experience on 2 wheels would be great to hear.

WOW!!! I have gone through this twice now and truly impressed with the narrative, history and awesome pictures. May try a couple passes this summer but too old (70) to solo some of the others but at least I have seen the views.

You and HU have inspired me to do more off road. Amazing stuff here and I for one really appreciate the detail and narrative. I'm going to tell my wife I'm going to CO for a history lesson :evil

    Boz

    Thanks again...

Glad you enjoyed it and are inspired by some of the riding opportunities in that area! Hope you get to see a few of those first hand. The off-pavement stuff takes us to some pretty interesting places. My favorite kind of riding by far.

I just read this again - Superb report. I've been on some of those roads and now look forward to getting onto the many others that I haven't ridden
