Fallen trees were a challenge from time to time. We were able to stand on this one that was otherwise too high to cross.

I've been getting a few inquires about this ride. I may have to offer another iteration later this summer.

Since this is an informal gathering of like minded riders, I am limited to nineteen riders.

(Heck, I was ready to ride it all over again as soon as we got done.)

I swear that log was 18 inches across when I was rolling up to it!!! :1drink

Looking at it now, I shouldn't have even slowed down.

I'm going to Photoshop that picture before anyone else sees it. That Birch is gonna be a Redwood when I'm done with it. :rofl

I tried to work a detour to get around a big tree that was down. It only led to mud and water and no through path.

One of our gas stops was dry so we detoured to another that was also dry. We ended way off route. It worked out well though, because we got to scout some new territory (like this ORV trail I hadn't ridden before NE of Rapid River).

F.I.B. has the title for the best water crossing. Sadly, he lost it on Sunday when four guys really took a soaker in some deeper water. :lol3

Some people are lucky enough to go to work everyday.

Others have to struggle to fill their day. (sigh) :D

There was a KLX last year along with Gasmich and (his son I think, his name escapes me at the moment) another person on their WR's. There are plenty of stops for gas.

This thing is so well planned out that there is a gas staion to gas station mileage list. You know how long it will be before the next stop.

I hope I can make CCIV. :thumb

My fuel list still relies on the stations having gas. One critical stop that we really needed was dry on the 2d day - but they WILL have gas next week. :lol3

Anyway, we ended up with a significant detour to another dry station and finally struck oil (so to speak) in Rapid River.

Q-Dog ran a KLX 250 for CT II. GasMich ran a Yam 250 and Nick ran a WR 400.

If it weren't for the trees down this year, some of the heavier bikes would have been less troublesome.

Looking forward to riding with you again Mark. :thumb

Great report guys. :thumb Sometimes the hardest rides make the best memories.:ricky

    Cannon,
I may have a chain saw we could mount to the front of the 950 to help clear some of the trees.:evil

When/where does sign up for next year start?:D

I need a better dirt bike...I think my 200 would be a little down on power for some of those sand sections. I just told my wife I need yet another bike....

Oh yeah, 2whlrcr! You can see that Jimmy Lewis is just showing off! He could have easily just ridden around that big ol' log! I had to go over this tree or the ride would have gone on without me. No choice in my situation. Beat that Jimmy Lewis! :D

But being serious for a moment, I admit it was a freshman mistake to dump it on that crossing. Damned 950's are heavy! On an XT220 or a CRF150, it wouldn't have even taken a second thought.

The Highwater Truck Trail was in the best riding condition I had ever seen. The soaking rain made the sand pretty stable. Even the loosest sugary stuff was OK. This long stretch has caused a lot of grief for riders in the past, but was sporty fun this time. DruiD and I enjoyed a very sporty run. I heard that jzee hopped into the trees but came out OK. Don't know about any other situations other than everyone made it through in a reasonable amount of time. The only problem was the bugs on the other end where we waited for all the riders to get through.
