This will be our last opportunity to ride the best single track in California for this season. Camp will be at Troy meadows overflow. Bring your A game, after this ride we head for the Dez. I will continue to build on this first post with more info, please don't quote the first post as it won't update with the changes I make. OK who's in?:ear

This ride originated on Ridersonline.org which I have been a member for many years. I am the host for the ride there. It has also been posted on KTM Talk and Thumper Talk. I will be adding your screen names only to the RSVP list on Ridersonline.org or you can RSVP there thru the guest RSVP tab. As Ridersonline's tag line says, Just a bunch of guys that wanna go riding. I will also add the count of riders that are not ADV here in this post so we are all aware of the group size.

We will be camping in Troy overflow, there is no fee "free camping". Please bring one bundle of wood from your local market. If everyone brings one bundle we'll have plenty of wood for a raging fire each night! :kumbaya
Here is a map and directions.

    Things you should know:deal
The last place to get gas is Pearsonville out on 395. There is no gas on the mountain.
Make sure your vehicles brakes and transmission are in good working order, the road to Kennedy Meadows is steep. I'm not trying to scare anyone, we take motorhomes and toyhaulers every trip, but this road should be taken serious.
Camp is at 7800' so it will be cold at night.
There is one pit toilet in camp and one water spigot also, dirt camping w/no table, fire permit required. (We have a permit for tribal fire pit!)
To enjoy the rides and not beat the crap out of you and your bike, GEAR DOWN ! No 15T front sprockets.
The rides will range from 30-50 miles and take the better part of the day, pack a lunch and beverages + plenty of water.
Make sure you have tools and supplies to change flats and make trail repairs. Duct tape and bailing wire, clutch levers and perchs.
The ranger will check all bikes for spark arresters, red sticker ok year round !
Ride slow and keep the dust down while in camp, there is a camp host and the ranger is on patrol. Don't give our group a bad reputation.
Trail maps availible at camp for free and forestry maps availible for a price, at the Blackrock Ranger Station (a few miles from camp by trail or road)
There is no cell service anywhere, there is a payphone at the general store 10 miles back down the road from camp in KM.
Our Ridersonline leader Jeff "BOLT" is gunna whip us all up a mean pancake, eggs, bacon and potato breakfast on Saturday ! Thanks Jeff !!
If you don't feel like cooking dinner, you can join me at the Grumpy Bear. "GOOD EATS"

I'd love to join in the fun if I can get some time off of work . . . need to get up there to visit my folks in Oakdale, maybe I can get a home cooked meal and a bed and then meet up with you guys Saturday morning.

Ya know schmo, there are two Kennedy Meadows in Cal.
The one we are going to is near Ridgecrest on the south fork of the Kern river. See the link to a map in the first post.

D'oh . . . Thanks Klammer . . . I was wondering about that after the last Kennedy Meadows trip that I was drooling over all the pics from. I've heard my parents talk about horseback riding up in Kennedy Meadows before and when I googled it only saw the one outside of Sonora . . . sure seemed like a long trek to get up there. I'll have to check out the link and see where this one is.
