How about a small 2 day tour through the most senic least traveled byways around Southern Utah? On 2 wheels of course!

Pull into St. George Friday night. I can probably cover rooms for my Baja buds here at the famous Seven Wives Inn.

We'll then take off up the Hwy to Apple Valley and cut across the mountain and drop down into Horsevalley wash for a short view of the old Grafton Ghost town.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

From there go over the old bridge into Rockville, then on into Springdale, the Gateway to Zion National Park.

    On through to the park...

    You want twisties?

Thats where we run through the 1.1 mile long tunnel.
head through the tunnel and drop into Mt. Carmel Jct, and on north via HWY 89.

We could take a little detour through the more touristy spots, like Duck Creek Village, (used to be one of my favorite little towns, till all of Vegas found out about it)

    Then on past Navajo lake.

Around the corner to Cedar Breaks,
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Then blast back to HWY89 and on up through Panguitch, and come to see Butch Cassidy's childhood home.

They've taken the sign down, maybe too many peep's wanted a piece of it.

Then on through Circleville, past Paiute Lake,
    [IMG]

    and into Marysvale...

Where we could stay at one of the many places, like Big Rock Candy Mountain, or Marysvale cabins up near our property.

This is where it gets fun, and dirty! Depending on the daylight, we could cross the only North Flowing river, ride the old train path along the river to some good 'ol home cookin' type of dinners, back in Marysvale.

In the morning head on up the Bullion Canyon to Bullion City
    [IMG]

And if ya dare, head to to Bullion Falls

    Then to Miners park
    [IMG]

Weather permitting, we'll head up the mountain about 10000' through some streams and pastures.

Drop off the mountain, onto I-70 and from there...??? Cedar > Newcastle > Pinto > PineValley > Veyo > Gunlock lake > Back to town
OR... the place I'd really like to see, and thats through some Nevada Mountains on a back way trail into one of the most hidden away little spots in one of the most beautiful valleys I've been in for a while. And on up to Pioche NV, fer some grub in a mining town that hasn't changed much in a hundred years.

Any Takers? I'll let you guys decide when.

IN. As IN, count me IN. As IN, IN. If I was any further IN, I'ld be looking
through your nose. I don't care when. Pick it, I'll be there, cuz I'm IN.
Any chance to ride with my Baja brothers. :clap :clap :clap

Great idea and cool post with neat pix, Eph.

Sounds good to me. When are we going? I may have next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the 6th-8th off. Is that too soon? I just have to see if I'm going to Phoenix that weekend or not. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow.

Hey, WalterT, wanna race up there for pink slips? I got room for your Orange Squeeze in my gah-rage, biz-atch!

Are you thinking 14-16th? Could still be in the 50's but could be as high as 65°? At least in the higher places, in St. George maybe 75° or better. Still want to do Baja again. So either before or after, fine with me.

I don't mind a chill. As long as it doesn't get any colder than 32-degrees, I think I can do it without being plugged in.

So you said before or after the 14th-16th, eh? What does the rest of the crew think about this weekend the 6th-8th?

I'll let yas know tomorrow about my having next weekend off for sure or not.

Maybe we can do it down the road then. I'll get in touch with you in a day or two.

    Hello Eph,

Sounds awesome! I've been to Zion twice, Bryce once. Beautiful country.

I think I'd need 4 days for this at a minimum. 1 each way to/from St. George then whatever for the riding.

Right now my April is booked (I am going to Death Valley for 3 days this weekend on the Ulysses) and May is pretty jammed up too - I've got a 3 day Yosemite trip planned May 19 - 21. (BTW these trips are casual, others are welcome to join in - I can provide more info. if anyone is interested).

Anyway, do it when you can, I'm amazed at how much free time you guys have to ride! :clap If I can join you I will.

    Best,

    Jim in Santa Barbara

Its going to be like 88° in DV this weekend. Thats getting warm, especially if you're going slow over the dirt on that Uly, them run hot. ?

Do tell, if vanity allows, how much they're dingin' ya for the rim. I imagine that the rear shock leak is a warranty issue.

I don't know about Eph, but my time isn't exactly free...
The wife makes me do things to... er, I mean - for her. :crash

Good thing she's got it going on! :sweeti

    Hello Eph,

I don't see why you can't ride your Uly with the rims "as modified" until your new one arrives.

I rode my S2 for many a moon indeed until I broke down and bought a new wheel, your dent didn't look as bad as the one I had from my deep, hard pothole encounter....

The rear shock is another story, that's worth having.

FYI rooms are available Friday night at the Motel 6 in Beatty, NV for $53/night. :evil

Saturday night we're camping at the Hot springs.

    Jim,

Tell me more about the DV trip. I may want to glom on if the wife lets me.

She may ask for more - payment... :nod

Where in Nevada are you talking about? I might be cruising around that neck of the woods this weekend. From Bishop, CA, it's not that far at all. I'll watch this post for your ride dates. :deal

Okay, I'll probably regret this, but the mistress says I can put a couple of pictures up if I do something for her later. I wonder what she has in mind?

Hmmm we'll see what they can get done, I know the wheel will still go around, not sure if it will hold air all day, but the main thing is the shock.
I hope it comes in this week!

I still think your crazy, I rode my other XB12 today, it was about 80° out there and almost too hot in trafic.
