Geezuz H Christ. I just now caught up on this thread and Peter’s moving to the farm. :lol3 I’ve been working 6 days a week recently into infinity but if you and Del need some help on weekends will bag this Saturday shit as long as there are no pesky dogs around. I wonder what the farm looks like? :scratch

Wood's too high, build a shop out of steel. Check out WebSteel in Sandy. DiggerD and I knocked up a 48x36 x12 shop in two weeks. It was almost winter and we only had scafolding. With a man lift and many hands, I've helped build one over a weekend.

No wood to rot or paint out side.
Very little cutting of anything = little / no waste.
    Low future maintenance, if any.

Already scored a 40 x 60 structure from them.^^ It was partially assembled then taken down and stored.
Will need some new timbers cut, but we have logs and trees and access to a sawmill.
Lots of work to do, first up is a concrete floor!

Prepare for sticker shock on a floor that size. I did a 30x48 and almost had to sell an organ to afford it. That was with me doing all the work except the actual pour.

I just had some slabs poured for $5.50 a sq ft and I didn’t have to do any of the work. Don’t know what an organ goes for theses days but $14,000 for a 40x60 slab doesn’t sound horrible.

Congratulations Peter! We’ll be sure to visit next time we go to Roseburg.

    :y0!

Second up is a concrete floor.

First up is a floor plan and elevations.
PITA to put plumbing in after concrete is poured.:photog

Plus it's easer to herd cats if you have a plan to follow instead of decisions on the fly and by committee.

Er.......you need any building permits,,,or you way out in the sticks with deep pockets?

You going with a loft or second floor?
    You been to Zuber's shop?
If three of the steel trusses over his loft have been a little taller, a guy could walk around up stairs with out getting a headache. Split level roof line.

    Cheers!

Photo not a steel building, but cool none the less.

Lots going on here. We’re doing everything we can to mitigate the building cost. Bought a WEB building gently used from a friend. Neighbor is going to saw the purlins and wall girts from our logs. We’ll form up the footings and slab and place the rebar, and a neighbor will pour the slab and finish it. If AJ and Wee Wee can help (and anyone else) that would be amazing. We’ll put this thing up for a fraction of the cost one might expect. One big sticker shock is the plywood. Need about 80 sheets of 1/2” CDX if anyone has a hookup at a plywood mill. Price went from 18/sheet to $82/sheet.
Damn. Haven’t been on social media in years

When? What's the time frame here? Happy to help!
Lumber prices really suck right now. A 2x4x8 is selling for almost $9 down here.
