So, we got a new Harrisonburg guy!
I met him at the University Farm tag.
His name is Dan, and he works with Nick65.
He was riding a CBR600rr, which he'd just dropped earlier that day.
Once he told me that, I happily let him take my V-strom around the grave for a spin, but he was nice enought not to test out the crash guards for me.
He said he'd start posting here soon----welcome!:clap

What about this? Seems like a good idea (except taking off the bars would be a huge pain in the ass)

I found the easiest to be using a $3 'leather' steering wheel wrap from the auto parts store, cut to the length of the handle, and it wrapped lengthwise perfectly. Used a small piece of electrical tape to hold it into place at the seem, not overlapping any of the heating coil. Little soapy water and the grip slid right back on. Any questions just lemme know!

Where is this shot taken? It looks to be somewhere in the valley.

Glad we could get together and ride Ken, good to finally meet you.
Had a great day, nice that it warmed up a little. Nice that I got home just as it started sprinkling too!
Yep, let's do it again soon.

Either of you know the TRUTH about Goose Pond Rd Rt 636 - Is it open to motorbikes. See Valley Tag for Skippii's post.

I think we will end up riding it anyway, legal or not

Goose Pond isn't open as far as I know, I know the part up from the end at Mutton Hollow is private property, goes thorugh a little part of SNP before that. We were up Snow Mountain Road today (shot of the Park sign), I believe the end of Goose Pond (shows as "4WD" on Atlas and Gazetteer) at Snow's is gated also.

Just a hint: I grew up here. There are lots of places in Greene where visitors are very unwelcome, usually at the end of dead end roads. Dogwood Valley, up the end of Bacon Hollow, up the end of Pocosin Mountain Road are best avoided.

Thanks for the advice. I never want to upset the locals. Snow Mountain Rd looks like my new DS destination after Thanksgiving weekend.

I do not dual sport but I explore and know a lot of roads towards Orkney Springs, VA and Bryce Mountain(35 miles from Harrisonburg, VA). Anyone interested in riding some paved roads out this way or maybe getting info on some local dirt roads post up.

    :lol3

When I used my spot to check in with the wife yesterday she checked our position on google maps and sent me a text asking if we were in Bacon Hollow. She advised that I keep my helmet on cause I "sure got a purty mouth".....:rofl

Yeah unfortunately there are some areas that you really do not want to go into alone around here. You all know the type...forty two broken down vehicles in the front yard but they will be damned if they want one "towny" on a backroad on a dirtbike. :baldy

Jack90210, Steverino, SST and several others can attest to what it's like to upset the locals in Dogwood Valley. We were up there about 4-5 years ago following Steve's GPS ("it shows that it goes through...").

Picture of our bikes on the mountain was on Flattop not far above Stone Mountain winery.

I got some angry stares Saturday afternoon from hunters "hidden" in the woods out near Hone Quarry. Probably scared away bambi.

I would be interested in doing some paved roads some weekend soon. I will take the Ninja and Skippii may join along with his Strom if he isn't busy. What roads did you have in mind? Anything between Fulks Run and Orkney Springs?
