Sounds like the best way to travel! Would love to see your videos if you feel like sharing. I see you're in TX. I may wander into West Texas in early July.

That could work and start the CDT from there. That's where I hooked up with the guy I rode with last year from IL.

I'm planning on towing the bike from Portland to NM. I have a wedding to attend there July 3, so I want to take advantage and do some riding. This is just the time in my life to take some time to travel, so I'm going to take the long way back.

Id like to meet up in Colorado and do the northern half with you. Think ill start the South end in May or June.
Perhaps Radium Hot Spring or Lynx Pass campground.

The Red Dirt Road section east of Lynx seems to have been abandoned. Photo below. 2142333430.jpg

Think about your dates and I can meet up with you anytime to start the CDT. I'll be riding out of Houston

Just kinda sounding off here. I live in Wyoming and travel past Union pass on a regular basis. The amount of snow in that area is below normal. They are worried about a bad fire season Might be able to hit that area in late June. Any of you know if there is a way to do the CDT up and then do the Idaho back country Discovery route back down?

Planning a south to north trip beginning June. Not looking to join a group necessarily as it will be the wife and I and we’ll be just tootling along, but I will be renting a uhaul from Arkansas to NM and would love to share costs if the stars align with anyone else.

It's good to see others on the same route about the same time I am going. My plans are July 17 through July 31....ish. I have done most of the route bits and pieces from past rides. I want to make it up to Glacier National Park and spend a few days there to explore (never been), take a picture at the Canadian border then hot foot it back Red River NM to meet up with the wife and travel back to Texas.
My pace of riding may not suit others so I'm reluctant to ask others to join. Knowing others will be on the same route and dates is nice to know. Hope to see you on the trail

A friend and I will be doing South to North starting the middle of July. This is his first big ride and the camping was a deal breaker for him. I am hopeful that he will see how great these trips can be and the only thing bad is chasing down hotels.

WOW that's a pretty set schedule you have. We'll be leaving Big Bend Jun3 21. MX. to Canada, thats about it for our scheduled plans. No miles per day smiles per day

Looks very doable. I went north from Del Norte
    (CR41G, was very nice.
CR50 from Lake City area is also very nice with great camping spots.)

Disclaimer: Your ride is NONE of my business, comments based on my CDR experience and opinion !

) The CDT as a first big ride for your partner, could create issues. It’s a long ride with several unknowns ....................... like the Great Basin in WY.

) Places to stay are plentiful, planning rooms that far in advance could be disastrous. What if you’re running behind due to condition difficulties, potential bike issues, etc . Ever experienced rain on some of the CDR dirt roads ?
