Aren't those KLRs priced as throw-aways? Probably cheaper to trade the bike in and get a new one than fix the old. Quicker too.

Wow, all this tech talk. Makes a person's head spin.
So, does anyone have an estimate of when y'all will be getting to Pozo? I have commitments in the AM but am hoping to come up and meet yaz. If I make it, I'll go north on High Mountain Road so if you see a big lump on the road...I might need a hand.:D

I'm thinking 3:00 p.m. would be a good target arrival time. They tend to close early so we need to make fairly good time.

It's roughly 200 miles to the Pozo Saloon from the Deer Lodge. 70 mph average would be 3 hours.

We meet at the Deer Lodge for breakfast when they open at 8:00 a.m. Saturday. We'll depart from the Deer Lodge immediately after breakfast. Factor in group dynamics, possible photo stops, dirt roads, one fuel stop. I say double 3 hours. If we leave Deer Lodge at 9:00 a.m. that puts us at Pozo at 3:00 p.m.

That is good. Hope to see yous guys there. If you are really dehydrated, I hear that ice cold beer tastes really good. I also hear they have those in Pozo. But that's just a rumor.:deal

Have not replaced the doohickey yet.

I have been calling around all morning- doohickey replacement kits are backordered everywhere.
Looks like I may be down for a while.
    Any Ideas?
I was hoping to have one overnighted so i'd have it tomorrow and hopefully still make this ride Saturday.

If you can't fix it or buy/borrow another bike then you could look into renting the GS 1200 from BMW Ventura. It may already be spoken for.

Not sure if they have dual sport bikes but they definitely have dirt bikes for rent in Santa Barbara at Moto Loco. I think I see a street-legal DS bike on their home page:

Was on 166 today between New Cuyama and Maricopa . They are slury sealing both sides of the highway. 35 mph speed limit (yeah right) and lots of loose gravel. It's mostly on the long fast downhill going into Maricopa. So, you get going fast leaning into the long sweeping curve and then...ooops. Maybe they'll sweep it by then, but I doubt it.
    Let's be careful out there.

Tomorrow morning DarrenO and I, are going to do a CEDRIC warm-up ride to Parkfield and north to Coalinga and maybe over to the coast, and then back to somewhere. We are going to meet near Cholame at maybe 10 AM (that is a guess, I am awaiting confirmation from Darren). If anyone would like to join us, let me know. I will post the exact meeting time later tonight.

    Wally,

BTW, did you see my post from earlly this week that DarrenO was "IN"? He is not on the "IN" list yet, but guys like him never are. :lol3

Jack's Ranch Cafe in Cholame at 10 AM. (What else is there in Cholame?)

I will leave the south entrance of the Carrizo at 8AM.

North to Coalinga, then west, then south. Route undetermined. :evil

I look forward to our much anticipated meeting at Ojai's Deer Lodge at 8 AM, Saturday. I will come down 33 from the north.

Yes, I did see that DarrenO is "IN". Thanks.

I have notified all the eating places that CEDRIC is coming. The reservations are in CEDRIC's name. I've even requested a few extra seats in case there are other nonconformists who may want to join us.:freaky

    David,

I just watched your Ninja video about your trip from CA to Key West to Prudhoe Bay.

It brought a tear to my eye. Not the bike or the sense of accomplishment, just the thought of parking my big fat ass on a motorcycle seat non-stop for 36 days. Ouch.

    Nice job.

Might see you FFs on Sierra Madre, Miranda Pine or La Brea later Sunday.
Gimme a salute :super or :flip

Stay on Tepusquet Rd for another mile and you can usually cross the river wash (often dry, graveled) directly to Foxen Cyn.
Ya miss "scenic" Sisquoc, but it saves a few blah miles.
