When do you want me there? I can find the county line & hwy 7 , Jessieville, a couple of mountains but Iron Springs is hiding... I need more than the name apparently....

About 1.5 hr run the way I ride to get there from Petit jean Mtn...

Are you planning a 200 + mile day? :gerg

Where will lunch be? In our pockets? :bluduh

    Splain me more please. :deal

I usually do this type of riding alone and carry a can of beanie weenies just in case. Usually I can get to Forester and back home by lunchtime. I know a group will move slower, so we will wind up needing lunch. Anyone with recommendations for a decent place somewhere on hwy 28?

Iron Springs campground is nearly on top of where the Ouachita Trail crosses hwy 7. I'll get there early and park my XR next to 7.

Just a mile or so of pavement from Iron Springs and onto forest service road 11. It's about 25 miles to hwy 27. Maybe 2-3 miles up 27 to Aly. We'll turn W on forest service 17/Chula Rd/County road 2. Follow that to forest service 134. Forest service 134(pretty) to forest service 33, which runs to Forester.

Gus, I had trouble finding it myself. But I'm pretty sure this is the place.

    That is it.
Coming from Petit Jean the road is descending. Parking lot on the right for the Ouachita trail. Road continues to descend and turns right. Iron Springs is about halfway around that right hander.
My red/white XR650 will be parked near the highway.

Forester is a county park now. Not much there but old foundations. A pavillion has been built on one of them.
Forester was built in the early thirties and cut all the local trees in about twenty years. Then the sawmill closed and everyone moved away.

I know we talked about sunday the 31st. I'm good for then, too. I cant saturday, with us celbrating trick or treat with the kids. There is several places to meet around here. I've been turned on to Lake Winona recently and it is beautiful. wide open dirt roads, and no dust, almost 2 inches of rain past 2 days.

The burn ban has been lifted. The hunters are taking a break. And the weather should be perfect. :D

Eating lunch at Parks on 28. Parks has gas. Nothing in between has gas.

    Sunday doesn't work for me.

Well Parks is dam near in OK and if this turns into a high speed chase I may bail on them, I'm old & slow. Or I may just go direct, at 20MPH that might work out to meet them for lunch anyway. Bawahahaha

We could do something Sunday too. I'm sure you could show me stuff in that area and maybe we could get a few others to go also.

Just remember, I go out for the sights and to see stuff, not for the ride, the bike is just a fun way to go.

:::Off to look at the maps to see an easy way to get to Parks..... :::

I usually settle into a 30-35mph pace on gravel roads. No pressure to ride over your head, I wait every few miles and at every route change.
Parks is on hwy 28. There just isn't any fuel and eats closer to Forester. It's the middle of nowhere.

Arkansawyer is great technical rider. He will get you through the tough stuff.
He can be fast when the need arises too.

Sounds more & more like I will kill the fun of day for the other two.
I may just stay up here in this area for now until I get a bit more experience.
Will say for sure by Friday.
I know you all say to not over ride & you are fine with that but the day as planned can not be done at my speeds without riding home in the dark after a 10 - 12 hour day for me & I do not think I should push that hard yet.
