At the bottom end, Kariong.
Here’s a route you can try. I only have the pic ( no gps route)
Happy to show you blokes that ride, well a slightly modified less tar version if you'd like.
Pretty keen to get out on Sunday as I'm having to miss an overnight ride due to family stuff Saturday.
Went exploring again today. There is a lot of great riding to be had out here.
Next time your at Jerry's, try his wife's homemade Vietnamese spring rolls! Got to get my TE630 back together and join you guys for a ride.
The more the merrier! Let us know when you are ready to get out there. Thanks for the tip, I'll try the spring rolls this weekend.
Got out there with the boys from KTM today. Got to try a few different bikes and had an all around great ride.
I'm going to hit the trail again on Wednesday if anyone wants to join in. Route and duration is flexible, probably starting at Palmdale Rd and making it up from there. Let me know if anyone wants to ride.
And how are you finding the 790?
I'm loving it so far. Definitely my favorite "big ADV bike" I've ever ridden. I plan to make a review video in a couple weeks. I just wanted to get some real seat time and get a feel for the bike before I started posting my opinion on it all over the web. The short answer is: It's amazing. It has some KTM issues/annoyances. They are easily fixed, but worth mentioning. That being said, It's more capable in the dirt than any twin I've ever ridden and you don't lose much highway performance compared to the KTM 1090/1190R.
I got a mate who had a 790 demo for a day, he wasn't that impressed but it sounds like you are enjoying it which is good to hear...
Let me know when the vid is up..
Interesting, I'd love to hear what he didn't like about it. I'd also like to to know if it was the R version, and what kind of terrain he test rode on. "ADV" is such a broad term it's hard to make a bike that fits everyone's definition. That being said, I've been thoroughly enjoying it. I'm getting the first service done tomorrow then I'll get to work on a review video.
I did the Howes Trail last weekend on a R1200 GSAdv, the track is really good fun - quality is good but there's something for everyone. Finchely Trig is a nice stop and amazing view and a quick schooner of mid-stength in Laguna to air up and then again in Wollombi before heading up to a spot nor far from Heaton's lookout in the Watagans to camp. Next day I rode to Kulnura (stopped at Jerry's for a pie), Bucketty, St Albans, Wisemans then home (Kurrajong).
Lovely country out there
Anyone up for a ride on Saturday?
Sorry, I'm taking the little bike out for some 2 stroke therapy.
Yep, I'll be up for a ride.
What time and where do you want to meet? Got a preference for a route?
How about meet at the below around 930am?
I've no preference for route but considering you're pretty new to the area, happy to have a chat in the morning and work out a route to suit?
I’m keen to join in.
Sounds good, I'll meet you there around 0930
