He sure did check it out for a long time. I got a new electric power washer for Fathers Day. It looks even better clean.

So here's the update on the Africa twin's cut throttle wires repair job:

First two pics are Doug's excellent field work, particularly since we were rushing to beat the rapidly approaching storm cell.

I regret not getting pics of the meticulous work on the individual damaged wires in the sleeve, but here is the (easily) cleaned up, ready to solder shot.

    03 Cleaned up-ready to solder.jpg
Next is a pic of the tool I rigged up to make things easier, followed by the finished solder job.

    03a Tool.jpg

    04 Soldered.jpg

Next, I shrank the tubing and and shot the individual repaired wires with 2 coats of Flex-seal I had laying around from a roof job. Just another hopeful moisture barrier.

    05 ShrinkTubed-Flex-sealed1.jpg

Gluing up the rubber wire cover, a few mm at a time with Gorilla Super Glue, the most tedious and sloppy part of the whole job.

    07 Glueing Tube.jpg
Gluing the last bit...looking a little better.

    08 Glueing Tube 2.jpg

Then, just in case there were tiny holes in the glue line, or in case it dries and cracks, down the road, I wrapped the rubber casing with an amazing Walmart find, Duct Tape glue-less Wrap-Fix, sticks to ONLY itself, and is stretched x3 as you wrap, seems like a super job. I didn't get a pic of that phase.

I am also out of pic uploading capacity for this post. I'll follow up with a couple of the completed job, in case anyone is still following along... :)

    The last picture show.
These are The Wrap-fix, and the Holly EFI cable covering, courtesy of a friend, a master auto body/mechanic, and retired Ameren engineer.

And if you notice, I ran the cable UNDER the Barkbuster arm this time, like Jim suggested.
I remember the instructions for them saying NOT to put the cables ABOVE the arm, but didn't have the length of cable to go under.
I do NOW, guessing Jim did that when he was trying to get some slack.
As you can see, tTere is still another double wire cable that was not long enough to go under.

I've never been a bike mechanic of any sort, but am sure gaining experience on them now.
It's enjoyable, and a money saver.
Again, thank you guys for teaching the Noob.

I have been looking and waiting for RR! Looks like you guys packed eggs and bacon for the trip; good idea. Now, if you stop at my brothers; there is a chance for some Elk, tastes like steak.... or was that chicken! I have sushi coming.

Just keep it fun and safe, my friends!

Da! I just noticed DrummeRpete's device stand, after maybe seeing it 5 times. Cool, now I know what to with my photo like stands!

    Thanks, Slow Learner

Not really a Moto social but kinda. FLJ, Awarren and myself met for breakfast at Arcola. From there we rode down to Owen Motorsports and checked out Indians ADV lineup.
